External Narrator

It was a lovely evening and a perfect occasion for a family dinner. Jay Rollins, a boy of sixteen and son of the wealthiest couple in Riverwood, light brown hair with beautiful midnight blue eyes was all set for the family dinner. He was back from a rejoicing vacation.

The De Tour Diner, all time favorite diner of the Rollins. He had just arrived at his already reserved table. In that very moment, his attention was channeled to the direction of a beautiful voice. It belonged to a girl. It was the last chorus of a lovely song.

He was mesmerized by the amazing voice that was affecting him like a drug. The look on his face made it certain. Too bad for him, from where he sat, it was impossible to see who was singing. He tried to make several glances and peeks.

" Is everything alright, son?", asked his father, who was sitting right across him.

" Yes.I was just checking something.", the boy assured his father. He didn't want to give him the slightest idea that he was desperate to see the face behind the most beautiful voice he'd ever heard.

The best part of the song was sung. The chorus. Jay couldn't hide the goosebumps, drifting him off to an entire new world as he closed the lids of his desperate eyes and embraced this gleeful, exhilarating realm.

Oh, what he wouldn't give up right that instant, just to see the person who affected him so much, by not even looking at him.

"...
Just say you won't let go."

The song ended.

There were only a few applauds. This was obviously because only a few people were listening, Jay assured himself more than anyone else. His heart demanding how unfair it was. Many were lost in their own little conversations. This deserved so much more reaction. He applauded as loud as possible.

This was it! Jay couldn't hold it back anymore. He had to see the girl. He immediately excused himself. This feeling was very uncommon to a guy like Jay Rollins as he was always used to all the girls falling for him. Never the other way round. He was basically the guy whom every girl had a infatuated on, the minute they laid eyes on him.

He never felt this way with any of the other girls he had dated, which for a matter of fact, happens to be many.

He took wider steps as he approached the side stage. To his astonishment, there was no one there. The stage was empty.

Vanessa's POV

This is not happening. There are barely a few applauds from the people. I instantly remember how cheerful my friends used to be back then. But still, I try to contain myself in stable pieces. I should not be sensitive. But I pretty much gave in everything I had into this song.

Well, whatever. Nevermind.

I feel like I should just take a quick break until the next song. So, I walk backstage where I am greeted by the lady again.

" Nice work. You've got a really nice voice, kid", she pats my back.

I just smile back and go to where Mom is sitting.

" What do you think I should sing next? "

" Vanessa, we have to leave. NOW!", Mom has a really scared and angry expression on her face. Which makes me feel even more scared.

" What's wrong, Mom?!", I anxiously demand for an answer.

" I just received a call. There's been a fire at our place", Mom's face grows pale and cold the minute she utters the words, out loud. Colors drain away from my face and even before I know it, we are out of the restaurant.
