~REECE~

"Dude, just call her! Stop being a pussy", Jared grumbled from beside me, munching on his french fries.

It was lunch at school and we were seated at our usual table with the usual people, a majority of who I had never spoken to and hadn't the slightest clue as to what their names were. To me, they were just a bunch of kids who thought they were cool.

I was sat beside my friends near the middle of the table, surrounded by loud chatter about the upcoming party on Friday.  However, I couldn't care less since, at the moment, I was contemplating a very life-threatening decision.

But in the eyes of the assholes I call my friends, I was being a pussy. Although, I did agree to some extent.

"I honestly don't care as long as you two stop bickering. People are trying to eat, here", Freed, one of the very few I knew, chuckled and motioned with his hand to my phone which I'd been staring at for a while.

Apparantly, such a simple gesture was pissing people off.

This was what society had come to.

If it were any other day, the both of blonde dorks would've gotten a punch to the gut for being a pain in the ass, however I was slightly distracted.

"Just pick up the phone and call her. It's not that difficult", Jared said sarcastically and rolled his eyes.

"Whatever".

Unlocking my phone, I scrolled through my long list of contacts until my eyes landed on a particular contact. I then pressed on her 'name', tapping the call button.

In an instant, the ringing sound (one that I'd unfortunately heard plenty of times trying to call her) erupted from my phone. It dragged on for a minute or so before it stopped, and someone picked up.

"Hello? Who is this?"

It wasn't her. But trying not I seem rude, I refrained from hanging up; masking my disappointed tone.

"Uh- I think I've called the wrong number, ma'ame".

The boys looked at me confused, but I just shrugged my shoulders in response and continued the conversation.

"I've picked up instead of my daughter..."

"Well, could you tell her that--"

"-Stupid girl left her phone here!"

A sudden surge of anger hit me as I listened to those words being said about my friend. From her own mother, too!

"Well-!"

"Look, son, you've dialled the wrong number. The little idiot, Elle, hasn't got a single damn friend except from that Asian girl- such a disappointment..."

"Excuse me-?"

"Don't call again, young man. Gonna give the girl hope of havin' any friends".

And like that. She hung up.
