I stepped off the plane and let out a huge sigh of relief, breathing in the fresh air the rain had brought. The flight from Toronto to London was just over seven hours, which meant I'd been sitting for far too long.
I walked over to the airport window, taking in the sights of the tarmac and departing taxi's. We were going to take a car into the city, and new home. I hoped that one day, I would be able to call this place home.
My dad handed me my suitcase which had my name, Celena, written on the tag in curly letters. My mom loved the unique spelling of my name, she even claimed that it came to her in a vision once and took it as a divine sign from god; or something like that.
I looked over to where her and my dad were standing, they both gave me loving smiles as they waited for the rest of our luggage to arrive off the track. They kept giving each other hopeful smiles, as if they too weren't sure that this move was a good idea.
My little brother Nick was slumped into an airport chair looking absolutely miserable. He was completely bummed by the move, not that i blame him.
He's only 15 and he's had a few girlfriends and a ton of friends that absolutely adore him. If I'm being honest, he's probably been to more parties than i have.It wasn't that i was unpopular, i just didn't want to bother with the typical high school drama that everyone seemed to be so caught up in. It wasn't that i thought i was better, i just didn't find who was dating who to be all that interesting, i mean who really gives a shit right ?
When we finally got into the taxi van, we shoved all our bags in the back to give our dog Mako (who is absolutely devastated from the flight) the brunt of the room. He was letting out silent whimpers, giving me the puppy dog eyes because he'd been stuck in cargo for the last 12 hours.
"Almost there buddy" i whispered to him, patting his big ears.
It was after dawn when we finally arrived. The house was huge, defiantly ancient, but huge all the same. I lean up against the door frame after everyone went inside and sighed. i just desperately wish this new life would be better than my last, I was craving adventure and to leave all my baggage behind.
The inside house had already been furnished by an decorator. she quite clearly chose to go with a rustic theme. The house was covered in exposed beams, antlers, furry rugs and old lanterns.
"This is awesome!" Nick yelled running upstairs, of course he dug the manly charm. "Oh Celena, isn't it beautiful" mom came up to me and wrapped her arm around my shoulders. "Its defiantly different from home" i gave her a reassuring smile.
"This is home now baby" she squeezed and kissed me on the cheek.I nodded at her, it was beautiful. It would just take some getting use to.
I grabbed my bag from the entrance way before wandering upstairs and down the hallway, as they started exploring. When i got to the rooms i ripped off a paper sign that said "Celena's Room" attached to one of the large white doors.
i can't lie, inside was absolutely beautiful. Just like downstairs, it had high ceilings which made the room seem massive, but the best part was it had a large window that was surrounded by a reading nook.
A smile bubbled up inside of me as i walked over to look outside. The house was surrounded by a heavy Forrest, and creepily enough a large oak tree was leading up to my window.
Hey maybe if i decide to be rebellious then sneaking out will be pretty easy right?
The walls of my new room were painted a deep grey and my photographs had been framed and placed all around the room.
