I hopped off of Scott's motorcycle. Scott texted me earlier asking if I wanted to accompany him to the hospital to bring his mother dinner and I suddenly found myself saying yes.

We walked towards the hospital where see plenty of bloody hospital patients. Scott smiled at the nurse walking towards us. That must be his mom.

She took the takeout from Scott's hands. "Thank God, I'm starving." She turned around and placed the takeout on the table then turned to us with an apologetic look and a smile.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Thank you for bringing me dinner." She said and hugged Scott. Her gaze transferred to me then back at Scott.

"Oh, mom. This is Cassandra." Scott said..

A look of realization crept up to her face. "Oh, hi. I'm Melissa."

She brought her hand up for me to shake. I shook her hand with a smile on my face.

"It's nice to finally meet the girl Scott's been telling me about." She said. I looked at Scott who has his eyes wide open.

"Mom..." He told her.

"It's alright." I assured him while lightly chuckling.

He shyly smiled at me before turning his gaze back to his mom. "Is everything okay?"

"Except for half the accident victims in a ten-car pile-up being rerouted here from downtown, and the E.R. attending not answering any of his pages, yeah, I'm okay." She answered.

"What does 'not answering pages' mean?" Scott questioned.

"It means that nobody can find him, so now we have to wait for the on call to get here." She answered.

A woman walked up to us. "Miss?"

"Yes?" Mrs. McCall turned around to look at the woman.

"Excuse me, can I kind of please have something for the pain?" The woman asked, her face grimacing in pain.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I know. But, actually, giving you something could complicate things, so....we really just need to wait for the doctors. Okay?" She said while pointing to the chair and the woman sat down. Mrs. McCall walked towards the receptionist. "Okay, how much longer on Dr. Hilyard?"

"Ten minutes." The receptionist answered. Mrs. McCall walked away to tend the other patients. Scott and I looked at each other then at the woman before walking towards her. Scott sat down beside her while I stood beside the woman.

"Uh, you know, I think that I read online that sometimes human contact can help with pain." Scott said. The woman looked up at Scott and nodded.

Scott looked around, making sure no one watches him and placed his hand on top of the woman's arm. I watched as black veins started appearing on his arm. The woman's face eased and smiled at Scott. The door suddenly flew open.

"Someone... Someone help me!" Someone yelled. I looked at the person and saw Ethan holding an unwell Danny. "Oh, I need help!"

I ran to find Scott's mom while he helped Ethan hold Danny. We immediately went to where Scott, Danny, and Ethan were. Scott and Ethan gently placed Danny on a chair while Scott's mom checked Danny.

Scott quickly grabbed Ethan's arm. "What did you do to him?"

"Nothing. He said he was having chest pains and trouble breathing, but it... it just kept getting worse." Ethan replied.

"This is not good." Mrs. McCall said while checking his throat. "How much longer on Dr. Hilyard?" She asked then looked back at Danny. "His larynx has shifted to the side. I think it's a tension pneumothorax."
