Taehyung's POV

As the soft rays of the sun streamed through the window, they danced gently across my face, draping me in warmth. The blissful embrace of the sunshine coaxed my eyes open slowly, pulling me from the depths of slumber. With a languid stretch, I succumbed to a soft yawn that escaped my lips, a natural and comforting release of the night’s weariness. Rubbing the remnants of sleep from my eyes, I shuffled in a daze toward the bathroom, my mind still somewhat lost in the dreams I had momentarily vacated.

Suddenly, the peace of the morning was pierced by the unmistakable sound of mother’s voice rising, impatiently urging me from the other side of the door. “Taehyung, hurry up! It’s your first day, and I want you to look good and make a lasting impression so that they welcome you well!” She knocked on the door with a firmness that suggested she was more than just eager; she was downright determined.

“Yes, Mom, I’m on my way—just give me a moment, please!” I called out, my voice muffled through the small crack in the door, as I took a moment to gather myself before stepping into the chaotic reality of the family breakfast routine.

“Alright, but make sure you don’t skip breakfast, okay? Everyone is waiting for you, honey!” Her cheerful response was a stark contrast to my grumbling inner thoughts. Oh, how I resented her early morning enthusiasm, especially when all I wanted was to bask in the lovely embrace of my warm bed, cocooned in my favorite blanket. Sighing inwardly, I finished my preparations, mentally steeling myself for the day ahead, and ambled down to the dining room.

As I entered the scene, I was greeted by the sight of my parents already seated at the breakfast table, a picturesque image of domestic bliss. They shared laughter and exchanged stories over a spread of steaming pancakes, fresh fruits, and a pot of coffee that filled the air with an inviting aroma. For a brief moment, it was utterly charming—my heart tugged at the sight. I took a deep breath, steadying myself, attempting to walk into this tableau with an air of calm.

“Oh, Dad’s already home. How was your day?” I ventured, pulling out a chair with a casualness I didn't quite feel.

“What's with that tone of voice? Who do you think you are, speaking to me like that?” His words came laced with disdain, and he slammed his spoon down onto the table with an aggression that made my heart sink.

“Ah, was that too much? Come on, be grateful; I’m just trying to be a nice son, asking how things were,” I replied, letting a smirk curl my lips as I scooped a spoonful of soup into my mouth.

“What? You've got no manners at all. Whose child are you, anyway!?” he spat, punctuating his words by stabbing his spoon into the bowl as if it were an enemy.

Yours, last time I checked. But if you loathe me this much, maybe you should consider signing those custody papers,” I shot back, feigning a smile while I twirled my fork mischievously through a pile of sausage.

As the tension thickened and my irritation boiled over, I stood up abruptly, my chair scraping against the floor in protest, and turned my back on the chaotic scene.

“What's going on with you two? Can we not just eat breakfast in peace for once?” Mom’s voice registered as desperate and weary, her fingers pressed against her forehead, a futile attempt to ward off the impending clash.

“You might want to ask him what the truth really is, Mom,” I replied slowly, determination simmering beneath my calm facade, before making my way toward the door, eager to escape the brewing storm inside.

“Hey, Taehyung…!” Dad’s voice followed me, a mix of frustration and disbelief, but I didn’t turn back. I stepped out, leaving behind the remnants of breakfast and a family dynamic that only seemed to thrive on conflict. The world outside awaited me, and with it, the promise of a day filled with unfamiliar faces and new beginnings.
