Ha Sun's POV

After a long day tangled in the complexities of the family business—yes, the kind of business that felt more like a weight I had to carry than a legacy I could embrace—I finally pulled into the familiar driveway of my home. As I stepped out of the car, I could already see my mother eagerly waving at me from the porch, her cheerful demeanor lighting up the late afternoon. With the car windows rolled down, I heard her voice reach me with that comforting lilt that felt like a warm hug.

“It’s so wonderful to see you both so close to each other! I truly hope this wedding arrangement is progressing smoothly, sweetheart.” Her smile was the brightest thing in my life, a precious gem that sparkled with unconditional love. Yet, even as I absorbed that warmth, a chilling realization seeped into my mind—my fiancé was Kim Taehyung, the very person who sent my heart spiraling in chaos.

“I hope so too, Mom. See you later.” I responded, forcing a smile that was colder than I intended as I waved goodbye, my heart heavy as I turned and trudged toward my door.

Once I stepped inside, the heaviness of the day settled all around me like a dense fog. I found myself almost stomping to the couch, a deep sigh escaping my lips. It felt as though I was the only one who could truly articulate the chaos my life had become. My sling bag fell to the floor with a dull thud, a reflection of my mounting frustration. I buried my head in my hands, trying to extinguish the rising flames of anger and confusion swirling in my mind, my eyes burning with suppressed emotion. It was as if my life had been meticulously planned by my parents, yet I was the one stuck fighting for my own desires—battling every little choice.

In truth, I had never planned on getting roped into a relationship, let alone an engagement. I may have agreed to this entire ridiculous arrangement, but the true dilemma was the person I was bound to—him! Why him, of all people? In this vast universe, why did it have to be the cold-hearted, infuriating boy? Kim Taehyung? Seriously? Out of everyone in the world, the one who drove me nuts the most was the brother of my best friend, Jimin. It always mystified me how fate could draw such unlikely lines. My love story with Jimin had already found itself tragically confined to erased chapters, and now I was facing a completely different horror. What a cruel twist of fate!

My phone buzzed insistently from my bag, but I wasn’t in the mood for another distraction. I ignored its pleas for attention and sank into the cushions of my couch, letting the weight of the day lull me into a deep sleep. Just when I thought I might escape into dreamland, out of nowhere, my phone’s ringtone sliced through the silence like a knife.

“Who the hell is calling me at this hour?” I muttered under my breath, irritation bubbling within me.

I fished my phone out from my bag to find an unknown number lighting up the screen. A wave of annoyance washed over me—just what I needed, a stranger trying to disturb my moment of peace. Against my better judgment, I answered.

“Who the hell are you, stranger?” I replied, my voice clipped and sharp.

“Take a chill pill, girl. It’s me.” The voice on the other end held a casual tone that only irritated me further.

“I don’t know you. You must have dialed the wrong number. Goodbye!” I was about to cut the call when his next words froze me in my tracks.

“Hey, don’t hang up! It’s me, Taehyung. Kim Taehyung.” His voice was unmistakable, almost too casual for my taste.

“Oh, Taehyung, what do you want?” I responded, trying to mask my rising irritation with forced politeness.

“Hey, don’t be so cold! You didn’t apologize for being rude just now. I think you can afford to be a little sweet and soft towards me.” He chuckled, and I could almost picture the smug grin creeping across his face.
