Chapter Four: Those Muscles That Make You Stare
Clary
"No, no, no! We need to blend in Clary, not cause more attention to ourselves!" Alec said to me, grabbing the black converse hightops from me.
I scowled him and said, "Oh and you wanting to wear a tie that says Merry Christmas and Happy New Years is perfectly fine?" Alec rolled his ocean blue eyes and said in argument,
"At least my choices are fashionable!" I looked at him, feeling as if a large and long blue vein was popping out of my forehead.
He did not just go there.
"Oh you did not just say that!" I argued, my tone rising as it echoed throughout the small aisle in the store in the mall.
Alec crossed his arms over his chest, his muscles buldging out. I couldn't help it, but my eyes went down to his arms, and I felt a burning sensation in my cheeks.
My cheeks were on fire. And the blush would not go away.
Right whenever it felt like a eternity of staring, I finally noticed from the corner of my jade green eyes that Alec was smirking in victory.
It was the voices of two young college student shoppers that snapped me out of my trance.
There were hushed whispers as the blonde one said, "Oh my God, he's so sexy. I'd love to get in them pants." I rolled my eyes and turned around, giving them a look as I walked off.
"You know, you were staring for quite a while there, Fray." I heard as I went through a rack of possible dresses for tonight.
I rolled my eyes once again and replied back, "In your dreams, Lightwood."
Funny how we just met two days ago and were already so comfortable being near one another.
It actually felt as if I knew Alec for two decades instead of two days.
Maybe this would actually work. Maybe this was destiny. Agent Fray and Detective Lightwood. The good old partners in crime.
I lingered on that thought for a minute.
"Hey do you think I'd look good in this?"
I turned around and saw that Alec held up a man's thong, making me face palm myself.
Sure. Partners in crime my ass.
Okay, this was a short chapter today, but prepare for chapter five! Which will be action packed and certainly long!
