Chapter Nine, Jealous Is the New Sexy

That was him. In the flesh.

Golden hair, green eyes, charming smile. Sebastian Verlac was only a few feet away, and Alec then said,

"Alright, let's go talk to him." We then walked forward, and for a moment, just one moment, Sebastian Verlac caught my eye.

His green eyes were soft as he looked at me, and I looked away, avoiding his gaze. We soon approached him, and luckily, Alec introduced us.

"Hello Mr. Verlac, I'm Detective Alec Lightwood and this is my partner, Agent Clary Fray." Sebastian gave us a dazzling smile and shook Alec's hand and said,

"Alec Lightwood and Clary Fray. It's about time I meet the true heroes of the century." Once he laid eyes on me, Sebastian took my hand, and kissed the top of it and said,

"And it's especially nice to meet you, Ms. Fray." His British accent stood out most as he pronounced my last name, and I smiled slightly.

Alec's hand shot to my back, and I took note that this was the third time today. Odd.

"True. But who wouldn't be ecstatic to meet my partner after all?" Alec said, his tone possessing something I couldn't quite grasp onto.

Sebastian snorted and rolled his eyes playfully as he said, "So how come you've both come to this red carpet event together? I've never seen you two out and about with one another before."

Alec's hand stayed lingering on my back, and he lightly stroked my lower back for a second and said, "Me and Clary have just been needing some time to get out of work is all."

Sparks from his touch made my knees feel weak completly, and the further and further down his touch went, I swore I was losing my mind.

Sebastian laughed. "I definetly know that feeling." Oh my God Alec...

His hand went to just above my ass, and my heart beat accelerated. What the hell is he thinking? And why does my stomach feel like it's doing backflips right now?

We're in front of billions of flashing cameras! And not to mention all the actors and actresses that could be looking at us right now.

Sebastian then looked at me with a breathtaking smile and asked, "So Clary, I do take it to my knowledge that you aren't dating anyone correct?" That was enough to make Alec's hand quit moving. He pulled it away. I then said,

"No actually." I saw from the corner of my eye that Alec's mouth was in a firm line straight line.

Sebastian then asked in my direction, "So you wouldn't mind if you sat next to me during the movie?" He was clearly trying to flirt right now, but I couldn't help but give Alec a quick glance. He rolled his ocean wave blue eyes and looked another way.

I considered everything as there was silence. Save for the talking of interviews being given to actors and cameras flashing.

If I sat next to Sebastian, I could maybe manage getting a few answers out of him. And asking a couple of questions.

Before I could think of anything else, I then answered, "Yes. I'd be delighted." Sebastian smirked and said,

"Wonderful. I'll see you in a couple minutes then." I began walking away, Alec behind me.
