Chapter Sixteen
Shady Is What You Are

Alec
This wasn't at all right. Clary was supposed to be back three hours ago.

Three hours!

It was now one in the morning, and I called Clary three times (all going straight to her voice mail) and texted her about eight times.

Something was seriously up. Clary wouldn't ignore me like this.

Then I horrifying thought dawned on me.

What if Clary and Sebastian were having sex?

My jaw actually fell open. I sat on my bed and ran a hand down my face, pinching the bridge of my nose in stress.

She wouldn't do that. It just wasn't at Clary whatsoever.

My phone vibrating set me out of my stressed bubble trance. I looked down at my phone and my eyebrow automatically rose up at the unknown number.

Regardless, I picked it up and pressed accept, pressing the phone lightly to my ear and answering, "Detective Lightwood."

The most unexpected voice possible answered, "Oh thank God you picked up." My eyebrows rose quickly.

"Sebastian?" I asked. I swear to God-

"Clary is at the hospital." I immediately rose from my bed and ran a hand through my hair quickly, exclaiming,

"What?! How the hell is she in the hospital?" Every single second was another that she could be seriously hurt.

I should of never of let her go. I should of kept her with me, where she would be safe.

As it should be. Me and her. Her and me.

I didn't have enough time to enjoy the revelation in my head because Sebastian only explained,

"The resteraunt that we went to had something in her wine. She's been drugged." My eyes widened. Even I had to repeat,

"Drugged?" As if I had no idea what the hell the word meant. I couldn't help but add straight after, "Did you take a sip of your wine at all?" There was a small silence straight afterwards. But he soon answered,

"Yes I took a small sip. But I took a test and I'm all healthy." I didn't have time to question any further.

But it just wasn't at all logical. How could Sebastian be perfectly fine and Clary was in a state like that?

Could someone personally be targeting Clary?

God so help me if I find this person, I thought. They would literally be found in their grave in under twenty-four hours for hurting that girl.

Already grabbing my room key and getting out the door, I asked, "What hospital are you guys at? I'll meet you there."

Sebastian then gave me the address, and I thanked him, "Thanks, Sebastian. I'll be there as soon as possible." I then hung up, and all my focus was only on Clary.

I just couldn't wrap my head around somebody wanting to hurt Clary. Unless it was someone she arrested or something like that.

But honestly, who would go to the extremes of drugging her?

And what a coincidence it was that someone would make a move to drug her right at the minute I wasn't with her.

This person clearly planned this out. Days, even weeks in advance.
