"Bonjour, mon amis," Lafayette grinned at you when you walked through the door. "How was the drive?"
You glared at him. You could tell that he was giving some futile attempt not to giggle, and you kind of wanted to punch him. You were trying to keep it together, and he was DEFINITELY not helping.
"Aw," Alexander laughed. "Laurens is blushing!"
"Am not," he laughed. "Come on guys, if every time we meet a girl, this is how you act, our reputation's gonna go down the toilet. And besides, guys and girls can have a platonic relationship, despite what people may tell you."
"Exactly," you said, forcing a smile. In all honesty, his words had hurt. A lot. You bit the inside of your cheek. At least you'd been friend-zoned before you could develop any false hopes.
Hercules Mulligan laughed. "Yeah, sure."
The five of you ordered some drinks and talked for a while.
"So how did you guys meet?" you asked, curious.
Hamilton laughed. "Well, I'm originally from the caribbean, but I had to come here after my parents passed."
"Oh..." you said, suddenly feeling uncomfortable. You felt really bad. "I'm sorry."
He shrugged. "I'd just arrived in America, when I heard about some dude named Aaron Burr. I had a drink with him, but he turned out to be a total prick." His friends burst out in laughter at this. "Then these idiots ambushed him, and here we are now."
"What are you gonna study here, (Y/n)?" asked Laurens. God, even his voice made you sweat with anticipation.
"Um... I'm not really sure. I'm having some trouble keeping my unlikely dreams out of my plans for the future," you grumbled, annoyed with yourself. "What about you guys?" you asked, eager to change the subject.
"I'm getting a major in English and politics," Alex said matter-of-factly.
"Clothing design," Herc replied.
"Who knows. I might be a French foreign language teacher?"
"I'm not sure either," Laurens said. You sighed with relief.
"I'm glad I'm not the only one."
"Oh, I think we all know that dearest Laurens is going to be a marine biologist," shouted Mulligan. Everyone else laughed, but you didn't get it.
"What?" you asked, suddenly feeling stupid.
"He loves turtles more than anything in this life," Alexander said between giggles.
"Come on, guys," the freckled man grumbled, turning red.
Suddenly, your phone buzzed. It was just a reminder, but checking it made you realize the time.
"Woah, it's late!" you say. "Ugh. I'm gonna be so tired tomorrow."
Laurens leaned over, and you were all too aware of his lips hovering just over your shoulder as he checked your phone.
"Yeah, we should probably all go home. Big day tomorrow," he agreed, his breath tickling your neck. You tried to keep from hyperventilating.
Alexander stretched and stood up. "I'll meet you guys in the car. I'll pay." He suddenly smiled. "You two can go without us. You need to drive (Y/n) home, Laurens," he said, suppressing laughter. Your stomach churned. Was it really that obvious?
"Yeah, whatever," said Laurens.
