"(Y/n), are you okay?" Peggy asks, laying a hand on your arm. You nod.

"Yeah. Just had a nightmare. That's all."

"Are you sure? Tell me about it."

You hesitated, then wondered what you had to lose. Her face grew increasingly sad as you told her about it.

"(Y/n), that's so sad! We would-well, I would never think that about you, and I'm sure they wouldn't either! I mean, I don't actually know them, but what I've learned about you so far, you're basically impossible to hate," she smiled.

"Thanks," you said, although you didn't really believe her. Still, her support helped. You looked over at the clock, which read 6:00.

"I'm gonna take a shower," you murmured sleepily, heading towards your tiny bathroom.

(Fast forward a few hours because I'm lazy XP)

You sat alone at a dingy cafeteria table, gnawing on an apple whilst trying as hard as you could not to fall asleep. The day had been going okay so far, although math was a challenge to keep your eyes open. You were exhausted between staying out late the previous night with the guys, and the nightmare. Peggy, after checking with you that it was okay, had gone to sit with Stephen Rensselaer and his friends. You had a few classes with her, two with Hamilton, one with Lafayette and one with Mulligan. But you hadn't seen Laurens all day.

Psht. I don't care, you lied to yourself.

You traced a heart that had been scratched into the table long ago. Inside were the initials 'J. C.' You wondered who that could've been. Jorge Corman. Jacey Cormick. Joseph Cooper.

"Hey," a familiar voice said, making you jump out of your skin. A flurry of thoughts raced through your head. Do I look okay? Is my shirt straight? Is my hair messy? Are my pants pulled up all the way? Is my face messy?

"Hi," you said, turning to look at him. His kind face was smiling, but you couldn't help remember that the last time you'd seen it, it was in a nightmare. What must he think of me?

"Don't you want to sit with your friends?" you asked, remembering how well they got along, and how funny they were together. He looked hurt.

"N-no, that's not what I meant!" you said quickly. "I just... you guys seem to really like each other."

He smiled. "Yeah. They'll survive. Besides, I'd rather sit with you today." And there were the internal explosions again.

"So how's your day so far?" you asked.

He shrugged and took a bite of his sand which. "It was okay. I'm disappointed that I don't have any classes with you, though."

You had a sudden urge to squeal like a little girl. "What class do you have next?"

"Some business class."

"And after that?"

"Uh, Geography, I think."

"Oh, awesome! Me, too!"

Laurens grinned. "Sweet!"

The two of you then sat in silence, not knowing what to say. Ugh. It was so awkward.

"Okay, um, I'm gonna say this before I lose my nerve, do you wanna, like... are you free later?"

"Um, yeah," you said, figuring that Hamilton, Lafayette, and Mulligan would be there too. "If you wanna have dinner, I'm free around 6:30..."

"Yeah. Yeah, that sounds great! See you then!" he smiled widely. "Anyway, I gotta go."

"See you in Geography," you grinned back.
