Laurens took his place next to you again in Geography, to Alexander and Lafayette's great amusement. You flicked them off across the room when the professor wasn't looking. Laurens laughed at your gesture.
"All my friends are idiots," he laughed.
"That makes four of you," you remarked.
He drew back in mock-hurt. "I am offended!" he joked, poking you in the ribs. You laughed and kissed him on the cheek, effectively shutting him up.
This was too much for the boys across the room, who burst into laughter at their friend's blushing freckled face.
The professor turned around, staring daggers at the immigrants.
"Are we going to have a problem, gentlemen?" she said, blatantly annoyed.
"N-no ma'am," Lafayette smiled, sitting up straight in his chair. "Of course not."
"I would hope so," the teacher said, giving one last disdainful glare before returning to the curriculum.
The two turned back to you, and immediately were struggling again. Alex was doing fairly well, but Laf had to shove his fist in his mouth to stay silent.
After class, the four of you walked across the grounds together, John's arm across your shoulder, the likes of which kept a warm blush on your face. It was weird without Mulligan there, but you made due.
"So... Laf, your roommate's Herc, right?" He nodded. "And Alex is yours, correct?" you asked, throwing your arm around your boyfriend.
"Yup." He kissed you on the cheek, igniting a blush that raced through your cheeks.
"That's lucky," you said. What were the odds that four best friends would be each other's roommates?
"Who's yours?" Alex asked.
"Peggy Schuyler."
This pulled a roaring laugh from Lafayette, and Hamilton almost fell over.
"Seriously?" chuckled Laurens, pulling you closer to him.
"What?" you asked hesitantly, suddenly feeling stupid.
"Alex is dating her sister," laughed Lafayette. "And the other one is surely in love with him, aussi!" he added.
You laughed. Small world.
Even smaller love triangle, you joked with yourself.
"Hey, we should all hang out later," Laurens suggested. "Us four, Herc, and the Schuyler sisters."
"Yeah, and play another round of dirty Jenga," Alex smiled, glancing at his taller companion.
"HELL non." Lafayette returned his friend's amused look with a glare. "Never again. No. Non. Nada."
Alexander giggled like a little kid and took off down the street, Lafayette in toe.
You turned to John for an explanation. He laughed.
"Long story."
He took your hand as Hamilton came sprinting back into sight, laughing, his face bright red from his recent dash.
"Holy shit," he said between breaths. "He's gonna kill me. I threw an open water bottle at him."
Lafayette, dripping wet, had taken a shortcut. He was now behind Alex and made no hesitation whatsoever to tackle him.
Laurens looked up suddenly, seeing something. "And now is when we come over here," he said, pulling you behind a building. You suddenly heard a new voice.
"What's going on here?"
Your eyes grew wide and you clapped your hand over your mouth to keep from bursting out in giggles. It was the Geography teacher.
"You two again?" she scolded.
"Uh... hi." you doubled over in silent laughter. You could almost see Alexander's sheepish smile as his sharp mind no doubt sifted for an explanation.
"We were just, uh..." Lafayette began.
"On our way to our next class," Hamilton finished, apparently hoping they could get away without an explanation. Your heard him and Laf scrambling up from the ground.
"If I see this again, there will be consequences!" The professor called after them.
