Chapter 8 Ash and Serena's Date

Serena looked at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. Her hair was combed and her teeth brushed. She sighed and turned away.

She was ready to go out with Ash.

Her heart beat faster as she opened the door. Ash was already ready and sitting on the couch. He looked at her as she walked out. He gaped a little but then quickly grinned.

"You look great, Serena" Ash grinned nervously at her.

"Thank you" Serena blushed and smiled at him, "So...should we get going?"

"Uh, Yeah" Ash stood up and they started out.

Ash and Serena were walking when Ash broke their silence.

"Um," He said. He didn't look at Serena but blushed slightly. "Wanna, hold hands?" Serena blushed and quickly looked at him. She had never thought of Ash as the kind of person into holding hands.

"Uh, sure" She put her hand in his, though he still refused to look at her. She opened her mouth to say something but quickly closed it again. She would have probably said something embarrassing anyway, so she just enjoyed their walk silently.

Ash and Serena were sitting at one of the cafes, drinking lemonade and talking.

Ash eventually stopped talking and stared over at the floor. He looked lost in thought.

Serena was about to say something when Ash spoke up again.

"Serena," He said, "How do- how do you know if you have a crush on someone?"

Serena was surprised and slightly insulted. Again? Why was he so interested in crushes all of the sudden?

"Didn't you already ask me that before?" Serena said defensively, looking away.

"Serena, please," Serena looked up to see Ash looking at her. She stared into his eyes and sighed.

"You'll want to be around them a lot, your stomach feels like it's twisted in a knot whenever you touch them." Ash was staring at his drink as Serena talked "They're someone you admire, someone you- you love" Serena stopped talking and looked down at her own drink.

"Oh," Ash said. They sat there in silence. Serena bit her lip.

"Serena," Ash said quietly, he leaned closer to Serena. Serena blushed but didn't move away. "Serena, I think I might have a crush on you" Serena's insides felt like mush. Ash... he liked her? She felt numb, not able to react. It felt like a dream.

Ash leaned in even closer until Serena could feel his breath against her face. Before she could do anything Ash, kissed her. It only lasted a few seconds, but it felt like forever.

Serena gazed into Ash's eyes after they parted. His face was as red as Serena's felt.

Ash quickly sat up. "S-sorry. I don't- er know what came over me" He turned his eyes away from her.

"Don't be!" Serena said, "you're a good kisser. Er- I mean- I-I wouldn't know since your the only boy I've ever kissed- and it's not like I can tell or not"  Serena stumbled over her words, feeling more and more panicked as she continued.

Ash chuckled nervously. "Hehe, yeah.." He and Serena sat awkwardly for a few seconds.

"Well, I'm gonna go to the bathroom real quick." Serena stood up quickly and ran into the cafe.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been busy, also I started watching Miraculous Ladybug recently. It's almost as addictive as Pokémon 😉
