Serena quickly looked away. What did he want?
When Ash finally got to her he stopped, panting.
"Hey" He smiled at her, but his smile quickly vanished when she glared at him.
He cleared his throat "erm...I, uh, wanted to apologize"
Serena said nothing. Ash continued.
"I just wanted to let you know, I hadn't ditched you for Lillie."
Serena glanced at him "then where were you?" She growled, quietly.
Ash fidgeted with something in his hand, a box, but what was inside, Serena did not know.
"Do you, uh, remember the date we went on?"
"It literally happened yesterday, yes I remember" Serena growled.
"W-well, when you went to the bathroom, I noticed that they had a sale at the store, opposite of where we were sitting" He looked up at her sheepishly and continued, "I, uh, I wanted to surprise you with one of the dresses they were selling"
"And?" Serena said, not as harshly as she was speaking to him before.
"I-I asked Lillie to help me get some money, so I could afford one. I did end up getting some money, but, er, they had already sold the dress I wanted to get you" he mumbled, looking down to his hands.
Serena suddenly felt a surge of sadness. How could she had been so unkind to him? She bit her lip, and listening as he spoke on.
"So," He said looking back up at her, and carefully held the box out towards her, "I got you this instead"
Serena hesitantly accepted the box. She raised the lid, and saw a locket. She looked at him, shocked, but he just stared at the locket, so she opened it.
It was a picture of Ash and her.
Serena's hands began to tremble as a wave of grief fell over her. She had been so harsh to him. Tears welled in her eyes until the tiny picture was only a blur.
"Do you like it" Ash asked apprehensively. Serena didn't reply, but immediately pulled him into a hug. Her whole body was trembling at this point, as tears poured down her face.
"Ash..." She sobbed, "I'm so, so sorry. I shouldn't have gotten mad so quickly. I didn't listen, I should have trusted you more" Ash said nothing, but held his arms around her.
"Uhh" A voice interrupted them, "are you going to buy tickets, or should I just let the next person in line buy some?"
