I spent two days in that room with no food or water. When I was finally taken out I wouldn't speak for days afterwards. Not even to Maria.
I finally spoke one day when I was asked a question by William that I felt I had to answer. I don't even remember what it was now.
The weeks started to pass by after that. I realised my place and I didn't think too much about the incident. It wasn't like I hadn't been beaten or gone long periods without food or water before I came here. It was just different this time, I couldn't explain it. I had always been that kid, I never said a word, I just left.
I always just left.
It had been over a month since the partnering unification and I felt as if it was a new home. I was told to share a room with one of the servants and Maria let me stay in hers. I felt safer and more comfortable there. I laid my clothes in the small drawer in my small nightstand and my shoes under my bed. There wasn't much to take with me. Unlike Caroline when she moved, she had bags full of items and clothing. She moved into William's room and now I go in to check on her and do everything she needs me to do. I do not need to be with her all the time since I do not share a room. I did not see much of John anymore since he went back to her home to get things situated there.
Not long after the unification some of the vampires at Caroline's were sent to Williams to aid the ones that we lost. Anne was one of them, so I had heard. I had not seen her yet, since she was a runner and always on the move. Or she just didn't want to come a see me, maybe she forgot. I shouldn't expect people to think or even care about me here, or anywhere.
Now things were a lot more peaceful and I felt almost relaxed now that the other royals were gone. Nothing bad had happened to me since and I was glad. Tonight at dinner I realised that William and Caroline were talking a bit more quietly and then William looked overjoyed.
"I knew this would happen soon, ah I should write to him right away!" he says getting up.
"Yes you shall," Caroline says smiling. I felt curious as to what could make them so happy, but William was done with his food and I figured he wasn't coming back to give me any answers.
That night I asked Maria a question that I had wanted to ask, but I couldn't bring myself to say.
"Have you ever been brought to the lowest level here?"
She looked up from lighting the candles. "No, but I've heard about it... why?"
"That's where I was." I say looking down at my bed.
"What did you do?"
"I looked someone in the eyes,"
"Its awfully terrible how they react over such things," She says lying down on her bed on the other side of the room.
I stay silent afterwards. I wasn't sure what else to say. It was terrible. I didn't understand why they thought they could do that to me. But what was I to say? I had no power whatsoever.
"What do you think William was so happy about?" I ask.
"I don't know, I couldn't figure it out," she says.
I sigh and then I roll over on my side and close my eyes and I slowly fall into a deep sleep.
........
"He hasn't been back for days," Tania says to me as she swings her backpack on the bed.
"He always does that," I say.
"Yeah, but he's been hanging out with Ryan. Amanda says he's bad." She says sitting down on the bed. "You're never here either Violet, you don't know how bad its gotten"
