The next morning I awoke and got ready for my daily task of checking on William and Caroline. Cassie was already gone doing her daily duties and usually came back as I left. When I was about to leave Cassie came in the door and stared at me as I walked by.
Then I hear a knock on the door and soon after a small, meek girl named Cora walks in. She had come in this room once before. She seemed to be very odd when I first was around her, but I soon learned she meant no harm. Cassie and her were friends, but I could never understand why since they were both so different in character. Cassie being very strong minded and independent, Cora was the exact opposite. They converse for a moment then Cassie turns her attention back on me.
"What is that on your neck?" She asks as her and Cora look at me curiously.
My hand goes to my neck as faint memories of that night begin to come back to my mind. Memories of what had happened before that day start to rush back as well and soon I am staring back at Cassie blankly.
"Nothing... just a scar," I say snapping back to reality as I walk out the door. I know there are going to be more questions soon, but I don't want to answer them at the moment. I don't even want to think about it.
I don't want to think about the past.
As I go up to Caroline and Williams room I listen in before I knock on the door. I hear other muffled voices as well. That is very odd in morning time for them.
The door opens and I walk through to see Isaac speaking to William. He looks over at me then switches his head quickly to William, looking at him sternly.
"I see your concern, but she is no bother to you. She has only had one complaint," William says looking back over to me. I look down to floor, realising I am not supposed to be looking at Isaac. It has become habit to look him in the eyes.
"One complaint too many, I kill my servants when one minor mistake is made. I do not deal with mistakes," he says. I hear the impatience and hostile sound in his voice. He pauses for a moment looking at William. "Just find out a way to deal with it."
"Come Violet, please fetch me my shoes lying on the bed," Caroline says from the other room.
I start to walk over as Isaac and William keep conversing.
"You are not sympathising, are you William?"
"No, she is Lady Caroline's and Lady Caroline is fond of her."
I quickly walk over to the bed and I grab the shoes. I then start to walk over to the separate bedroom where Caroline was.
I am suddenly then grabbed by Isaac harshly on the arm. "What is this?"
"What is what, Isaac?" William asks concerned.
"On her neck, who bit her?" he asks in an angry, disgusted tone.
"She said it was vampires in an ally before she was brought here, certainly none of our men. I thought you had known about this?"
"No, I did not know"
He lets go of me quickly closing his hand into a fist as he drops it. I heard the tightness in his voice that made him sound unhappy with the information given to him.
"I am sorry for the inconveniences Isaac, but she is nothing but a servant. You shouldn't let it bother you the way it does," William says coming closer to him and putting a hand on his shoulder. I look up slightly towards Isaac before I leave to put my shoes away.
"Fair enough, as you wish," Isaac says as I walk into the bathroom to Caroline who is already dressed. I help her with her shoes and I start to pick up their room and then I quickly go back downstairs out of sight.
