Violet was alone in her room, Martha was in the console room with the Doctor and Jones was probably somewhere else in the Tardis, meaning she had time alone to stare into a box that held a vortex manipulator in it, that had been previously stored in the top of her wardrobe and was yet another gift from The Face of Boe. He had said that one day it would help the events he her future become true and it would also bring with it an impossible year and an answer to a question she would be asking at the time. She felt that the question that she was supposed to be asking herself was the one that the 'Devil,' and The Face of Boe had made her become  aware of and she was sure the question was 'who isn't real in my life?'

''Your not thinking of using that are?'' The Voice made her jump at first, but when she realised it was Jones she calmed down. It was then she realised he had a habit of walking up to her bedroom or behind her a unexpected moments and it made her wonder if he had some weird sixth sense or something.

''No. I was just thinking. I promise I'm not going to use, the Face of Boe said it was important at the time of the impossible year, whatever that means,'' She said not noticing the look that crossed Jones's face until he walked over and in what looked like a daze and sat on the edge of the bed next to her.

''Boe said the year that never was is soon approaching. The impossible year,'' Violet looked over at him and her jaw dropped, the Face of Boe was trying to help them by giving hints to what was going to happen to them.

However, for the life of them to two could not figure out what his clues and hints were leading up to and they both felt that whatever it was it couldn't be good and could change everything.

''Blimey, do you have to pass a test to fly this thing?'' Martha asked as Violet and Jones entered the Tardis control room.

''Yes and the way he drives I'm guessing he failed it,'' Violet replied moving to help the woman up as she had fallen over as a consequence of the Doctor's driving.

''Yes, I failed it. Now, make the most of it. I promised you one trip and one trip only. Outside this door, brave new world,'' The Doctor exclaimed a wide grin on his face.

''Where are we?'' Martha asked once she was off of the floor.

''Take a look. After you,'' The Doctor gestured to the door and Martha gave her own grin before she ran over to open it.

''Oh, you are kidding me. You are so kidding me. Oh, my God, we did it. We travelled in time. Where are we? No, sorry. I got to get used to this whole new language. When are we?'' Martha asked as she opened the door she came face to face with dirty washing hanging across the street and children running around the street as well as adults trudging along.

''Mind out,'' The Doctor shouted as he reached out and moved Martha out of the way as a man poured a bucket, with a not so nice smell, out of the window.

''Your first Visit in time nearly ended badly,'' Jones stated as he shut the Tardis door behind him. He and Violet had appeared out a little after Martha and the Doctor had and where just in time to miss the slop being poured out of the window.

''Somewhere before the invention of the toilet, sorry about that,'' The Doctor apologised as the four begun to wander slowly down the street moving in a zigzag in order to avoid the children running in the street.

''I've seen worse. I've worked the late night shift A+E. But are we safe? I mean, can we move around and stuff?'' Martha asked glancing around a little wearily.

''Of course we can. Why do you ask?'' The Doctor asked.

''It's like in the films. You step on a butterfly, you change the future of the human race,'' Martha explained.
