Chapter 10

Scarlet's POV

I got home to see my mom sitting on the couch. "Where were you?" I sighed. "I was at the hospital mom. Jack's dad got shot." She stood up. "Well maybe he should've gotten shot." I turned my head toward her. "Mom. Really?! Why do you always do this? He did nothing wrong." She sighed. "Well, you never know. And why were you at the hospital? Jack hurt you. Why would you go there so he can hurt you again?!" I stepped closer to her. "Jack never hurt me. And what, are you saying I should never see anyone who has hurt me?" She nodded. "Yes. They will hurt you again." I nodded. "Wow. Okay. Bye mom." She grabbed my arm tightly. I turned around and pushed her into the wall. "You hurt me everyday! It's not gonna happen anymore! I'm done with you and this family!"

I ran upstairs and packed a bag. I climbed down my window while my mom tried getting in. I quickly ran into the woods and hid there to see if she did anything. I felt something on my shoulder. I turned around to see Logan standing behind me. I sighed in relief. "What are you doing here?" I hugged him. "Thank god you're here." I paused and moved away. "I've had enough of everyone in my family. They've been treating me like trash. I mean, except Bethany." He kissed me. "Hey. It's okay. Did you at least say goodbye to Bethany?" I shook my head. "No. I climbed out my window before my mom could come in and stop me. I wish I did, but it all happened so fast." I hugged him so I would be in his warmth. He made me feel safe. As long as he was with me, I was safe. "So what exactly happened? Did she slap you again?" I shook my head. "I came home and she yelled at me for being late. She told me that I shouldn't have gone to see Jack's dad. She said that I should never see anyone who has hurt me. So I left." He nodded.

We went to his place and sat there enjoying each other's company. We looked at the list that his dad gave us. "Our town v.s there town? When did that happen?" I asked. Why would our town fight against there's? "Well, it says that it happened 5 years ago. But we would've known. Wouldn't we?" I shrugged. "Maybe that's why everyone told us to be inside before dark. Remember? We all had to be inside before dark. We never knew why, but they told us to. I didn't listen one day and ended up getting yelled at by my mom, of course."

"Yeah, I remember. I never went inside. I always saw these men in the woods talking about something. I could never understand what it was. Those men must have been my dad and his gang."

"Or it could've been your dad's gang and people from our town. You can't ever tell anymore." Logan got up from his seat. "That's it! Instead of us writing about these stories, we could go talk about them. Then if it is important, we will write about it." I got up slowly. "We could ask everyone about that year. Including your dad. Just in case." He nodded. "Yeah. We could go tomorrow." We planned everything out. Once we got to the questions that we would ask, it was 3am and we were asleep.

Logan's POV

                         I woke up to see Scarlet still sleeping. She looked so peaceful and beautiful when she slept. I didn't want to wake her so I stayed there for awhile. I just stroked her hair for the few minutes. I saw her eyebrows narrow quickly. What was she thinking. All of a sudden she woke and sat up hitting my head. We both rubbed our heads. While I was still rubbing, she looked at me and gave me a big hug. "I'm so glad you're safe!" She screamed. I hugged her but then pulled away. "Why would you say that of course I'm safe." She let go and sat all the way up. "It was just a dream." She whispered. I wanted to know what had happened but didn't want to bring it up, just in case it was horrible, which it sounded like it was. She pressed her lips against mine and I wrapped my arms around her waist. I pulled away and got out of bed. "Where are you going?" She asked with a worried expression on her face. I raised my eyebrows. "Plan?" I said trying to help her remember. She quickly got out of bed and got her clothes on. A few minutes later she was ready.
