Logan's POV

"Who was that?" She looked at me. "The ki-" She started but then the door opened. It was my dad. He walked in, grabbed my shirt and pulled me into the other room. I steadied myself and glared at him. "What do you want?!" He made sure Scarlet couldn't get in. "I told you to just write about them, not talk to people about it!" I got mad.

"We were just trying to get more information about it! That's what writers are supposed to do! You can't just write about something you have no idea what it is!" I was pissed by then.

"And you better not lay a hand on Scarlet or I will kill you! I don't care if you're my dad!" He looked at me then smiled. He started laughing. I was confused. "What?" He ignored me and kept laughing. "What?! Why are you laughing?! I'm not joking!" He was still laughing.

"You, you are just like me! I've been waiting to here this." He stopped laughing. "Good job son." He said patting me on the head. I moved his hand away from me. "For what?" He started walking away.

"You have reveled your darkness. Congratulations. And also, I did nothing wrong to the sheriff or the mayor. So I don't know why they tried to kill me. But anyway, listen to Tom. He knows what he's talking about." At that moment he left like a ghost on Halloween.

I came back in the room and sat down. "You okay?" Scarlet asked. "I should be asking you that." She looked at the floor. "It was the killer. He called me. How did he get my number?" I froze once she said those words. I couldn't move at all. She wrapped her arms around me but I couldn't do anything. She pulled away and looked me in the eyes. She started crying. I was able to speak.

"What did he say?" I asked slowly. I could barley get it out. She cried on my shoulder. "H-he said th-that he would ki-kill the ones I l-loved." She said. I finally could move. I held her in my arms.

"It's okay. We'll stop him. Don't worry. He won't hurt anyone." She moved away and looked at my face. "He threatened you Logan." I pulled her in my arms. I felt a tear roll down my face. Was I really crying? Why am I crying? I shouldn't be crying. We stayed there the rest of the day. Didn't move at all. Could we really stop this guy?

Jack's POV

"Dad, you need to relax. I can do this." Why was he being so rough?  Couldn't he trust me? "Jack. I can cook. I'm not an old man."

"But you got shot. The doctors told you to relax for a few weeks. That means to not do anything except watch tv, eat, and walk around a little bit. Not work." All this is is just cooking. "Dad, it's just cooking."

"And what happens when you burn the house down?" He said sarcastically. I tilted my head. "Fine. I'll be back. You stay here, got it?" I turned and headed for the door. "Wait. Where are you going?"

"Tom's. You said you don't want me cooking so I'll go get food. Bye." I left, leaving my dad to do nothing. I could cook, right? I mean I've never tried. How hard could it be?

I got to Tom's and ordered food to go. I sat down at a booth and saw Logan and Scarlet eating. A few minutes later, they went to Tom. I couldn't grasp what they were saying, but I could tell it was horrible. I saw Logan storm out and start running. Scarlet followed and I looked out the window. Logan stopped in the street. What the hell? I opened the door and saw a car come closer to him. I started to sprint but Scarlet pushed him out of the way.

I went back to Tom's and got the food. "Is everything okay? I saw Logan storm out." Tom looked at me worried. "They were asking about 5 years ago. They were doing research on it. I  told them stuff about it an-"Wait, that was the year we couldn't go anywhere after dark." He nodded. "I told them about it, but didn't tell them the whole truth."

"Is it important?" He nodded. "Very. Our town is hiding behind it." He took me back and told me everything that happened. "You need to tell them as soon as possible. If they're doing research about that year, they need to know everything. I'm sorry but I have to go." He nodded. I left quickly, remembering that my dad was waiting for food. The whole way there, I couldn't stop thinking about the sheriff and mayor. Why? Why did they do that?

"Dad, I'm back. Dad?" I looked around the house for him. "Dad!" Nowhere to be seen. I walked outside and saw him in the back talking to some guys. I recognized one of them but couldn't grasp who he was. All I know is that they looked like bad news. "Make sure he doesn't get hurt, got it?" I heard my dad say. I saw them nod and leave. I quickly went inside and to the front. I looked in and made sure that my dad was in there. I acted like nothing happened.

What were they talking about? Who were they talking about? Our day was just a normal day. I couldn't stop thinking about who that guy was. Then it came to me. Orey.
