Chapter Three

When I woke up the next day, sunlight was streaming into the room.

I laid there, the soft blankets hugging my shrunken body, and a halo of hair sprawled around my head.

I have been in the past for a week now.

I felt numb, I didn't know what to think.

My entire world changed a week ago, I left my family, my friends, I even died!

"Morning," A kind voice interrupted my WONDERFUL thoughts (How rude, am I right or am I right?), "Did you have a good nights sleep?"

I turned my head to see the nice story man from yesterday, I could see him better now so I examined his face.

Scars littered the worn face, and although large bags hung under his eyes, his green eyes were filled with youth and happiness. Amber and gold flecks littered the green irises like stars in the sky and his sandy brown hair was trimmed neatly.

Where did he get the scars from?

He couldn't have been abused as a child because some of the scars were new.

The scars looked as though an animal attacked him.

But, how could that be? Some of the scars were old like he got them as a kid, but others looked as though he got them a week ago.

"Alana?" His kind voice interrupted my thoughts and I was snapped back into the real world.

"It was good," I said quietly, a little nervous in front of the much bigger man.

I felt my hair turn grey. I'M A HUMAN MOOD RING!

"You don't have to be scared Alana," He told me, crouching by my bed.

I sat up, my blanket wrapped around me, protecting me from the cold.

"I'm not scared," I said stubbornly, "I'm a big girl, big girls don't get scared,"

Where was this coming from?

I didn't even have to think about getting into character.

"Everyone gets scared sometimes, being scared is okay," He told me gently.

"Do you get scared?" I asked him curiously.

Of course, he gets scared, everyone gets scared. Why am I acting like this? I know the answers to these questions, it's common sense!

"Yeah," He told me softly, "I get scared a lot,"

"But you're big! What could hurt you?"

"There are a lot of things in this world bigger than me," He told me softly, "But we mustn't worry about now, we have to eat!"

I nodded and stuck my arms up.

The story man chuckled to himself as he stood up and lifted me out of the warmth of my bed and into his arms.

His calm and quiet demeanor made me feel safe, and I felt my body relax, my hair turning a happy yellow.

After I got ready, I took his hand and we walked down to the kitchens to have breakfast.

While we ate, I learned that his name was Remus Lupin (What? I forgot!) and that he once went to this school and was a Gryffindor like Charlie. He has a twin sister and three best friends that were like brothers to him, but he told me that they moved away and he hasn't seen them in years. I also learned that Minnie had called him in and thought that he would be a good adopted father to me because apparently, it's 'unfit for a child to grow up at Hogwarts'.

"So, tell me about yourself," He said to me.

"Well, my name is Alana Jackson but my brothers called me Allie Cat," I informed him, "Apparently I'm as cute as a kitten, but I disagree,"

"Really?" Remus asked me, amusement dancing on his face.

"Yes. I'm as fer-fer-fero-," I said, scrunching my nose as I tried to pronounce the word.

"Ferocious?" Remus supplied for me.

I nodded.

"Yeah, I'm as ferocious as a lion!" I exclaimed only stumbling a little bit on 'ferocious'.

Remus chuckled at my enthusiasm and I gave him a grin.

Over the next few days, I stuck by Remus's side.

He was safe.

I had just come back from playing with Charlie, Eila, and Tonks and I was about to enter Minnie's room when I heard arguing.

" I can't take her Minerva, she deserves a good life, not moving around every month," Remus's tired voice fluttered into my ears, "I can barely provide for myself and Aiden,"

"I will help you with providing for her," I heard Minnie reassure him, "Remus, the only other person I could think of who could care for her is Molly, and she and Arthur can barely provide for their seven kids,"

Seven kids? That's crazy!

"I'm dangerous," Remus hissed at her, "I could seriously injure her or even kill her!"

"I'm sure Molly could care for her for one night every month," Minnie told him, "And what about your sister? What about Aiden? He understands your situation, and he deserves to have someone his age around. Lana was orphaned at such a young age, and I believe that you and Aiden can help her be the best person she can be,"

"Fine, I give in," Remus sighed, "I'll take her only if she wants to come with me,"

I could just feel Minnie giving a small satisfied smile, "Good, now Alana, why don't you come in and we can all talk,"

I sheepishly walked into the room and saw both adults standing in the middle of the room with their arms crossed.

"Why do you think you're dangerous?" I asked Remus.

"I'm a werewolf," He whispered after a moment of silence, not meeting my eye.

"Cool," I exclaimed, "I've never met a werewolf before! What happens if you go to the moon, will you explode? I don't want you to explode so don't go to the moon. Why do you transform? Were you born a werewolf? Can I be a werewolf too? Are you cuddly when you're a werewolf? Is that where you got the scars? Did you fight off another werewolf? Are they battle wounds?"

"Slow down little one," Remus chuckled affectionately.

"Allie, would you like to be adopted by Remus?" Minnie asked me, "I promise you can visit anytime you want,"

I nodded, breaking out into a large smile.

"I'll get the papers," Minnie said.

"Wait, I have a question," I piped up, "Who's Aiden?"
