"Oh, my MERLIN!" A beautiful woman with light brown hair and amber flecked green eyes screamed, "I have a niece! I never thought this would happen? How old are you sweetheart?"
"I'm almost six," I said shyly.
"Mum, you're scaring her," A girl with dark hair and matching green eyes informed the crazy lady.
"Hush Faith," The woman dismissed her daughter, "Remus John Lupin! How did you hide a daughter from me for almost six years? Who did you knock up? I can't believe I have a niece! I never thought this day would happen,"
"Ash, calm down," Remus told his sister, his face a bright red.
Wait, sister? Remus does NOT have a sister in the books.
"I can't! You hid a daughter from me!" She exclaimed, "I have SO much spoiling to catch up on,"
"You don't have to," I said shyly, my hair shifting into a dusty pink to match my cheeks.
"I'm sorry about my mum," Faith said to me, "She's crazy,"
"It's alright," I said quietly.
"If you haven't figured out already, I'm Faith," She said cheerfully, "Aka your one and only cousin, unless you count Harry,"
"Harry?" I asked curiously.
"Harry is my god-brother. I haven't seen him since I was like two, his aunt and uncle keep him away from us," She informed me.
Wait, does she mean, Harry Potter?
I felt my hair turn a sea green if Harry is Faith's god-brother, that means that Remus's sister must have been close with the Potters. Either that or Faith's father was close with them. Or maybe both of them are close, the wizarding world seems like a close community.
"What's your name?" Faith asked me, jolting me out of my thoughts.
"Alana," I said a bit shyly as her green eyes pierced into my blue ones.
"I'm Faith," She said with a small smile, "Can I call you Allie?"
I nodded my head quickly, and she grinned.
"Why don't we go out for ice cream?" She said, her eyes glinting mischievously, "My mum and your dad will probably be at this for a while,"
"Okay," I agreed happily.
"There's an ice cream shop in town," Faith told me, "It's down the road from here, and it serves some of the best ice cream in the world!"
"Did I hear ice cream?" Faith's mom asked.
"Allie and I were planning to go," Faith said a bit sheepishly.
"Without us?"
"Umm, maybe?"
"My own daughter!" The older woman gasped dramatically.
Strong arms scooped me up and I soon found myself face to face with Remus.
"You want to get ice cream, Allie?" He asked me.
"I never had it," I said sheepishly.
It technically wasn't a lie! I've never had it in this world!
"REMUS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THIS CHILD!" Faith screamed bloody murder as she glared at Remus.
If looks could kill, Remus would be six feet under.
"Faith, it's been winter..." Remus said slowly, "It's just getting warm enough to-"
"NO EXCUSES!" Faith shrieked, "LET'S GO! HOW IS AIDEN STILL ALIVE? HIS FATHER IS SUCH A DESPICABLE HUMAN BEING!"
We made our way to the Wizarding Ice Cream shop in the small town, the sugary aroma floating around the quaint shop. Faith and I raced up to the display window, pressing our noses up to the glass, and marveling at all the different types of ice cream.
"What's that one?" I asked Remus, pulling on his shirt to get his attention.
"What one?" He asked me, a loving smile etched onto his face.
I pointed to the sparkly blue one.
"That is called, Blue Pixie Dust," He told me.
"I thought you couldn't eat sparkles!" I exclaimed.
"You can't eat most craft sparkles," He replied, "But these are magical sparkles,"
"Can I have some?" I begged him, "Pretty please please please please, pleaseeeeee,"
"Of course,"
"Can I have a sticky toffee pudding?" Faith asked my Auntie Ash.
"Definitely!"
After receiving our ice cream, we walked around the small wizarding village.
"You're tongue is sparkly!" Faith giggled as I stuck my glittery blue tongue out at her.
The sparkles crackled on my tongue like those popping candies. What were they called again? I remember eating them by the handful with Jason, but what are they called!
"Allie?" Remus's worried voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Yeah?" I asked quietly.
"Are you okay? You seem distressed," He said softly, his voice like the soft pitter-patter of raindrops on a warm summer day.
"Yeah," I said softly, "Just tired,"
I accompanied my lie with a big yawn.
"Faith and I should probably start heading home," Auntie Ash butted in, "Long day tomorrow,"
"Alright," Remus agreed, "Allie should probably take a nap too, we don't usually go out much,"
"It was nice meeting you Allie," Auntie Ash told me sincerely, "I have a lot of spoiling to catch up on!"
"You too," I said, suddenly feeling shy.
I was engulfed in a huge hug from Faith, and then another one from Ash.
"Bye," Faith whispered, "See you soon?"
I nodded, saying my goodbyes, and waiting for Remus to walk home with me.
We walked home in silence, my small hand clutching his large one.
"Can you read Allie?" Remus asked in the middle of our walk, "It's just that when you asked me what the ice cream flavor read today, I realized that you haven't gotten any education in your time with me,"
I looked at the ground, struggling to find the right words.
"I can read," I said softly, "It's just really really hard,"
"It gets easier with practice," The kind man offered.
"The words, they move around and the letters jumble up," I told him, "How do you get the words to stop moving?"
Remus looked down at me, his soft green eyes searching mine.
"I don't know," He said honestly, "But that's enough talk about reading. How did you like your aunt?"
"She's crazy," I said honestly, "But I think I like her,"
"She would be glad," Remus told me, "And that's another thing we agree on,"
I yawned, for real this time, and Remus scooped me up in his arms.
"Why don't you get some sleep?" He said.
What were they called, what were they called, I used to eat them with, with, with?
Where are my memories?
I can't forget, they make me who I am! They might not all be good, but I need them. I can't forget, I can't! I won't, I refuse!
My breath started to speed up, my heart racing. My mind started to blank and numb as my heart hammered in my chest.
"Allie, breathe," Remus's scarred face came into my vision, "You're okay, you're okay,"
"What are they called," I wailed at him, my hair melting into a snow-white hue, "Why can't I remember? Where are my memories?"
