As night neared we had finally gotten ahold of Adam, who told us to stay put and he would meet us at Nick and his wife Stacia's home. In the mean time I was told to get in touch with Melanie and the others to formulate a plan to discuss reinforcement if need be.

Once Adam heard what had happened and what they were after he gave me the orders and quickly hung up, saying he was on his way.

I let out a breath and turned around to find an amused looking Vance with one eye brow raised, leaning against the door frame to the hall way.

"What's the plan?" he asked.

"Adam is on the way, wants us to get ahold of some others in case we need back up, and of corse keep the book our highest priority. What's with the look?" I answer and then ask him my own question all in the same breath.

"You and Trey?"

"Come on Vance. It's a little too late to play protective brother don't you think? Not to mention a little ridiculous given the situation we should actually be focusing on."

He let out a loud laugh, and Corey poked his head in. Seeing the two of us in a conversation he winks once at me and ducks back into the kitchen.

"It's not like it was a secret Soph. I have eyes, it's just when I joined the group, he was with Lacy, then I saw how fast he dropped her ass. I wasn't putting two and two together at first as I saw you two being so open about it when I walked up earlier and I felt cautious, but now it adds up so don't look at me like you're ready to fight with me on this." he stated putting his hands up in surrender.

"Oh and what two and two did you put together then smart ass?"

"That he dropped her as soon as you got here."

I already heard that from Trey, but knowing other people saw it also made me feel better. Like he really did care about me.

I have no problem talking about my love life with females, but my brother? That's a little to much. I rolled my eyes and shoved past him into the kitchen, well aware my face had turned several shades of red in the last minute.

I heard Vance chuckle behind me and then, "Nice of you to finally grace us with your presence Rosie." I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Adam sitting at the kitchen with his feet propped up on another chair and a cup of what I would assume is coffee, but knowing Adam probably the stiff kind.

"How did you get here so fast?" I mean I literally just talked to him on the phone.

"Flew." he answered with a wink.

My jaw dropped. Flew?! That son of a bitch.

Grumbling all the way to my seat I plopped down by Trey who gave us both a questioning look but knowing the two of us he probably figured it was Adams way at getting back at me for something.

"And quit with the Rosie crap, oh mighty flying angel." I sneered at him.

He laughed and shook his head.

"So I am guessing y'all have already seen what was inside the book?"

We nod and wait for him to go on. As anxious as I am to find out what this book is all about, I'm more anxious to get out of here and secure the surrounding area so I can go check on my son.

"The beginning of the book is a story, in the old language. It tells what we all already know about our kind and how they began. The dates and coordinates, those are directions."

Vance snorts behind me, proud of himself for figuring that out. Whatever, it's not like it was that hard.

"Directions to what though?" Corey asks.

"Each line of coordinates are a check point. You start off here," he pointed to the first one. "then end up here." and points to the last line.

"The The dates tell you what day you have to start. The only way these work," he points to the coordinates again. "is if you start on these exact days."

"Why?"

"The suns positioning has a lot to do with it, but I'm no science teacher that's just the way it is."

As soon as he said that, something came to me.

"Winter solstice. December 21 is when winter starts here. I bet anything if you check the other dates those will be the days that winter starts for other places."

Adam nods his approval and closes the book.

"The reason behind the book, my dears, is what I'm worried about. The directions lead to the one thing the convert bastards are looking for."

My skin felt tingly at the mention of this news. The Angel of Pestilence. That can only mean they are getting that much closer.

"I'm guessing since you're worried that means we aren't the only ones with directions." Trey says staring at Adam with anger in his eyes.

Adam nods once again.

"They figured out who has books and they are attacking. The size of the groups make it pretty clear they are organizing and planning, and the fact that they were able to just ambush you all back there is surprising. We need to regroup and make sure all the others know to keep an eye out. After Rosie here gets in touch with our friends, we need to get back to the house and start taking out them sons of bitches if they are stupid enough to still be there."

Immediately the group perks up. With the return of our leader our confidence is back. Not to mention enough anger in each of us to fuel an army. Finally, a little ass kicking will commence. We know they're out there, so they won't have the same advantage of surprise as they did before.

"Who is Rosie?" Vance asks.

I roll my eyes and ignore the question. I'm too ready to start taking these beasts out before they get to someone who can't defend these books properly.

Game on.
