"Stay with me at all times. I'm not taking any chances of getting separated again." Trey tells me after pulling me aside.
"Trey, I get you're worried, but I don't need to be babysat. If you don't recall I took out a few today." I said with a smug smile, probably a little too proud of myself.
He closed his eyes briefly and then with a small smile said, "Thats so hot, but I would still feel better if you stayed with me. Please?"
I broke at the puppy dog face he threw me. A bad ass such as Trey had that down a little too well and it really wasn't fair. I was trying hard not to cave in but he placed his hands on my waist and brought me in close.
"Please babe?" he begged one more time bringing our faces close. Chills ran up and down my spine and his smile grew when he realized he had won.
I already knew I was going to stay by his side because I wanted to be there for him too, so I leaned in, gave him a kiss, and shook my head.
"You think you can just throw me any cute face and get what you want huh?"
He pulled me back towards him and wrapped his arms around me, resting his chin on my head.
"Well I was hoping..." he said making me laugh.
We stayed like that for a while until the rest of the group were standing with us outside. Nick and Stacia joined us and I eyed the older woman curiously. The whole time we had been there she had not said a word, and still she stayed quiet with the same grandmotherly smile she had when I first entered her kitchen.
As I went to tell her goodbye she cocked her head to the side. Before I could ask her what was wrong she reached for my sword that I had attached to my back and ran inside with it.
"What the hell is that crazy woman doing?" Vance asked.
I was speechless. First, the fact that she had any interest in my sword was strange. But then my brother speaking like that about an elderly woman was just plain rude.
I smacked him in the stomach and re-entered the house. What I saw when I got inside could only be described as amazing. In the middle of the living room sat Stacia with my sword and it was floating!
Shocked, I could only stand there. Was this woman 'blessing' my sword? Excited as I was, I still couldn't speak. I felt people behind me, and then Trey's hand on my shoulder.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"I'm not sure."
We watched for a few more seconds until the sword slowly drifted back down to the ground and the old woman's shoulders slumped forward a little as if she were exhausted.
I grabbed my sword and turned to her. She had a pleased smile and nodded at me eagerly. I looked at the sword and looked back at her.
"Sooo.. I can use this now?" I asked confused.
She nodded once more with her still pleased smile and then dropped her head, turned and walked out of the room. I glanced at Nick to see he was shaking his head. He clearly wasn't pleased with this.
"I'm sorry Nick. I had no idea she could do that. Is she going to be ok?" I could tell the blessing took a lot out of her.
"She will be fine with rest. I tried to keep that a secret as long as I could. I didn't want to give any one a reason to come after her." he said to no one in particular. I could see tears forming in his soft brown eyes, and immediately I felt guilty.
"Don't you worry sweet heart. You didn't ask her to do it. Sometimes she just can't help it. She feels an urge to do these things. Few know about it. I guess I can hand over the others."
