I was beside myself with anger. Just the thought of those things knowing about Keaton had me shaking from the adrenaline coursing through my veins. We were waiting for T.J. and Charlie's groups to contact us and plan a means of action for the ambush thrown upon us, then I would be on my way.

A contact from the area of my hometown told me all was calm there for now, but I wanted to see him myself. We were told a seeker would be placed as protection for my and Vance's children since we were the only ones in a group that had been attacked with them, and would stay out of sight until we had things better under control, if we even did. We learned that even though we were the only ones that had been attacked this way so far that every seeker that left a child had been scrambling to get to their offspring. The counsel agreed to the actions taken since these children will be future seekers.

Vance was just as eager as I to get home and make sure his daughter Kami was safe as well, and Trey insisted on going with me, since he still wouldn't let me out of his sight. I felt better having my guys going along, but I felt a little unease at knowing Trey would see the mom side of me. I don't know how guys without kids feel about those sort of things, and I hoped it wouldn't change the way he looked at me.

On the other hand if it came down to Keaton and him, the choice was clear.

After finally contacting the other groups and hours of Adam deliberating a course of action with the other two leaders, we finally decided on a plan. Instead of bringing the fight to the converts like Adam and Charlie wanted, the three groups would work together to enlighten every other group of hunters we could contact to the converts own plan of attack and what they were looking for. The plan was to ensure that no group stayed in the dark about what was happening now, and to keep an eye out.

Hopefully they could hold their own against any further battles. I'd hate to think of what would happen if the book fell into a converts hands. Satan cannot and will not win this war if I have my way.

After things were settled between them, Vance, Trey, and I jumped into a car and drove the few hours it took home. The car ride was quiet for the most part. All three of us were still on edge from the insane fighting and turn of events. Even the radio stayed off, and we all stuck to our thoughts.

Once we reached Lumberton, we stopped by Vance's old home first. I wanted to get a look at my sweet niece, but I was aching to get to Keaton. When I saw Vance was ok with the hunter that had been sent to watch her, I drove off.

I reached my old house in less than ten minutes. I passed by once to check the area and after only seeing the seeker sent to protect Keaton, I parked a little ways down the street. Before I climbed out of the car, I turned to Trey.

He looked like he was thinking really hard about something, and it was making me a little nervous.

"What's wrong babe?" he asked me, reaching over and touching my hand. I searched his gorgeous face for any sign of regret that he had came and found none.

"Nothing." I lied. We didn't have time to sit and discuss such small insecurities, and I will always put Keaton over anything, so there is no point in acting like him having bad feelings about this would matter to me.

"Every time I come here I always get my hopes up that he will by some small chance feel me or know I'm there. I know it sounds crazy, but I always hope this will end and I can find a way to be with him again."

Trey didn't say anything. He leaned in and kissed me then put his forehead to mine.

"You're making this world a better place for your little boy, Soph. Whether he knows it or not, you are doing more for him than anyone else, and that should make you feel proud." I felt light headed from the intensity of the emotions I felt sitting there with him in the car.
