I awoke the next morning and hurried downstairs. It was a "lazy day" meaning you eat whatever you can find for breakfast, no sit down breakfast. I grabbed an apple and walked back upstairs. It was 8:57. At 11:45 I was to meet Millard at the beach for our date at noon. I still had plenty of time to get ready, so I ate, got dressed, and walked to the library. Unsurprisingly, Millard was in there, his nose in a book. I slowly walked in, keeping quiet. I snuck up behind him and grabbed his shoulders.

"Boo!" I shouted.

"Gahhh!"he yelled, turning around. I doubled over laughing.

"Y/n Williams, what was that for?" He said laughing.

"You looked like you needed a good scare." I said walking in front of him and sitting in the floor.

"How would you know. You can't see me." He said smartly.

"I could tell. You looked too calm." I said smiling at him.

"Well, that was what I was trying to do." He said

"I know I know."

"I'll get you back though" he said reopening his book. I stood up and sat on the arm of the chair he was in.

"What do you mean 'you'll get me back'?" I asked, playing with his hair. He shrugged.

"Not sure yet." He said, pulling me off the arm of the chair and next to him. I sat next to him and put my head on his shoulder. He rested his head against mine and opened his book. I read too, having to pause to tell him to turn back because I didn't finish the page yet.

"Do you even know what your reading?" He asked.

"Chapter 4 of the Secret Garden." I said, smiling.

"Do you know why I'm reading it?" I shook my head. "Because you said this is your favorite book. I have never read it."

"So wait... why are you reading it?" I asked.

"Because if you like the book, it must be good." He said laughing a bit. I nodded, smiling.

"You can turn the page now." He nodded and we read. We have roughly the same reading pace. Only a few times did one of us have to wait for the other to finish. Hours flew by, unbeknownst to us. Once Millard closed the book, it was nearly two. I sat up and looked at him.

"Did you like the book?" I asked.

"It wasn't exactly something I would've read on my own, but I think I liked it." He said. I stood up and stretched. Millard put the book back and glanced at the clock.

"Shit." He said.

"What?"

"We are both two hours late for our date." He said turning to me.

"It's ok. Reading with you was a lot of fun." I said smiling at him.

"It was." He said walking over to where I was standing. "Do you still want to go out? Or would you rather stay in here and read?"

"Do I get to spend time with you either way?" I asked.

"Unless you don't want to." He said.

"You know I do. Either works. You can pick." I said

"Ladies choice."

"Millard Null-" I started.

"I said it's up to you." He interrupted.
