I awoke at six and sat up. Millard was out, he won't notice if I leave early. But just as I stood, his hand grasped mine.

"I'm supposed to have another half an hour of cuddle time." He said a smile in his voice.

"Millard. We should get ready to leave."

"But we have two hours. And we need to be up in half an hour and y-you can lay back down." He said, his voice began quivering.

"Are you ok?" I asked, sitting back on his bed.

"I really don't want to go out of the loop. I never liked to. But with everything that has been happening.... I desperately don't want to." I nodded and laid next to him looking into where I *assumed* his eyes were.

"Awwww my poor baby," I said hugging him. He hugged back, and just didn't let go.

"I see my plan has fallen into place." He mumbled into my shoulder.

"Millard I don't know your middle name Nullings! You are a sneak!" I said, pushing him a bit, laughing.

"What? You fell for it." He said, "and I am a bit uneasy about leaving the loop." I glared at him in a playful way. "So, you can stay a little longer, right?"

"Ugh, I suppose so," I said smiling.

"Thank you." He said, pulling me closer again. I shook my head and snuggled into his chest. "Y/n, who do you suppose Miss Peregrine is sending us out to get?"

"Millard, you do realize how broad that question is, correct? It could be anyone. How would you expect me to even try and answer that?"

"Just starting a conversation. Eases my nerves." He said.

"Try something else. Maybe sleeping would help." I was not being rude, my tone was playful. He laughed softly.

"Or," he said tilting my chin up, "you could just distract me."

"Ah, and how do you propose I do that?" I asked.

"By doing this." He pressed his lips to mine slowly and carefully. As the kiss began to deepen, his hands trailed down to my waist and my hands found his hair. When we pulled away, our hands stayed put, as if holding one another in place, afraid that if either of us let go, we'd lose one another. I buried my head in his neck and we just laid there until we drifted to sleep.

We awoke later on, closer to seven. Voices were floating down the hall.

"Shit!" I said, sitting up fast. Millard's bed was only a twin size, so my sudden movement caused him to crash to the ground.

"What the-"

"Shhh! Everyone's up! We're in deep trouble if someone finds out!" I whispered, cutting him off.

"Y/n, what are you..."

"It's nearly seven! We overslept and now everyone is waking up!" I panicked, getting off his bed and walking to his window. "Is there any windows between our rooms?"

"I- uh... I don't know." He sounded groggy still, after all, I just woke him up by making him fall. "I think, Hugh's room has a window, but it's higher up... you might be able to make it."

"Ok, well," I opened his window, "I'll be leaving see you in five." Just I stepped outside, Millard grabbed my wrist.

"No just, go out my door. I don't want you falling or anything."

"Millard, I'm fine. It'll be fast, I've done this before." I started walking again.

"Y/n, seriously, just go this way." He said.

"No, we're both going to get I trouble. Meet me downstairs, and we'll eat and get ready to leave." I walked slowly across the roof, Millard watching my every move. Once I got to my window, I looked over at him and stuck my tongue out before proceeding to climb through my window.

Once I got dressed, I headed downstairs for breakfast. I met Millard, who was waiting outside my door, and we walked downstairs together.

"Y/n! Millard! Hurry and eat, we need to leave in ten." Said Emma rushing up the stairs past us. We quickly headed down to the kitchen and grabbed something. We sat in the kitchen and spoke quietly.

"You seem nervous," I said, gesturing to his foot which was rapidly tapping on the floor.

"A bit." He said.

"Millard, the Bird wouldn't send us out if she thought it wasn't safe."

"Yeah, but anything could happen."

"But nothing could happen."

"I guess so." He said, standing. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah," I stood up and tossed the rest of my food in the trash, "let's wait by the door."

We waited silently by the door for Emma. But we were surprised when Hugh and Enoch also met us and declared that they were coming too.

"Miss Peregrine told us she wants more than three people leaving." Said Enoch"Don't think we're- I'm- volunteering for this."

Once everyone was ready to leave, we made our way out. We walked through the village and to the loop's exit. Once we got there, Emma told Millard he was going to have to take his clothes off, so any present residents of Cairnholm wouldn't see his clothes. He declined for a while, arguing that it was too cold and he'd be careful, but Emma's death glare made him stop.

Once out of the loop, Millard began complaining about how cold it was.

"Oh, hush Millard! It's only for awhile." Said Emma. Millard sighed and we continued walking.

"Where's the Bird even having us go?" Asked Enoch.

"The house." Said Emma, staying ahead of all of us.

"Why?" Hugh asked.

"I don't know, she said we should look there." Snapped Emma. The rest of the walk was silent. We ran into nobody and Millard began.

"You see, there was no one. I could've stayed warm if you would've let me!" I slapped Millard's arm and told him to be quiet.

"I heard something." Said Emma, walking cautiously through the old house. " it came from the basement."

"If there is anyone in my basement, you can believe I'm snapping their neck." Whispered Enoch angrily.

"Enoch, this house has been rotting for so long, anything down there ought to be ruined." Stated Hugh.

"Still." He mumbled.

We neared the staircase and Emma suddenly stopped.

"There." She said, pointing to a gaping hole in the floor. "That's new."

Everyone walked cautiously towards the hole of darkness. Emma slowly lit her hands and aimed the light into the pit. Nothing. It was empty. Wait, no. Something- someone moved. We all moved back slightly as a young man came into view. He looked oddly familiar.

"Hello?" He called. And that was all it took for us to get up and run.
