***Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think! Be blessed! :)

FYI: This is the same day that Amineh found out she was pregnant...

Micah

I walked into the locker room so I could change out of my gym clothes. Everybody else was still in the gym hooping. I had a lot on my mind so I couldn’t really get my head in the game. After only making one of my ten shots I decided to call it quits. I just wasn’t able to focus.

I had a pretty decent day at work today nothing serious happened; which I am thankful for. D was still acting a little weird this morning about our little argument even though I apologized a million times already. I bought him a dozen donuts and he forgave me quickly. Typical Cop…

Alexa and I are on civil terms again. We obviously don’t see each other like we used to but she was over the house with the kids last week for dinner. I do make sure I’m never alone with her though. I know my wife fully trusts me again, I’ll never understand why or how, but still I don’t want to leave any room for error with Alexa. I almost lost the only woman who has ever meant anything to me and I’m not trying to give Mineh any reason to be concerned.

But all in all everything was falling back into place but there was still something holding me back from just having peace of mind.

Guilt!

Guilt for killing that kid and cheating on my wife all in the same night.

I finished putting my t-shirt on and sat down on the locker room bench thinking back on that night.

-Memory-

“Let me see your face Alexa,” I said grabbing her chin and turning her face towards me so I could see the black eye that Chris had given her last night.

She had been trying to hide it from me the entire day by wearing her sunglasses; I didn’t think anything of it because of this Arizona’ sun. It wasn’t until she took her shades off just to mean mug me for making fun of her did I notice big purple and blue bruise around her eye.

Once she realized that I saw it, she turned her head quickly to look out the car window.

“Alexa is he hitting you again, why didn’t you tell me. You know I would have handled it. You can’t keep letting him do this to you,” I said getting angrier just thinking about a grown man putting his hands of a woman.

I honestly don’t know why she stays when she’s witnessed for herself, especially in our line of work, that it will only get worse.

“Every time you “handle it” it only stops for a little while Micah,” she said sounding defeated.

“Well you know better than anyone else that you would have to press charges in order for me to be able to do anything. Alexa how long…” I was interrupted by the radio.

“We have a robbery in progress at the mini mart on Jackson and 5th , the perp is armed and dangerous…”

“This is unit 15269, we’re close and we’ll head to the scene, out,” I said.

“Roger that 15269,” she replied.

“We will talk about this later,” I said sternly to Alexa, turning on the sirens and racing towards the scene.

We walked into the store to find a young man who looked to be about 16 or 17, he had on baggy jeans and an oversized shirt that almost reached his knees. He stood there with his left arm wrapped around a young woman’s neck and his right hand held a gun that was aimed at the girls head.
