Chapter 4: The Mystery

A few minutes after Sofia left...

Amber was annoyed, and concerned at the same time. She was returning from the library, when a note pined on Sofias bedroom door.

It said;

Need a break. I am going out. Please dont follow. I will be back by dinner.
  Sofia.

"Thats weird. First Mother, now Sofia needs time to herself?" Amber mused.

Without any regrets, Amber walked into Sofias room. She gasped at the mess on her sisters floor. The trunk was open and everything inside the trunk was on the floor. Dolls, paintbrushes, her school bag, some random books and a pile of papers.

What really caught Ambers eye was Sofias tiara on her bedside table. Why would Sofia take it off? Amber mused.
The last time her little sister had done that was when she tried to fit in with Carol's Merry Band.

Amber turned and gasped, surprised to find Sofias usual purple and pink gown hung up on her closet door. Amber did the only thing she could think of, she screamed,  "DADDY!"

Roland, James and Baileywick ran to the source surprised to find Amber in Sofias room all alone.

"What is it Amber?" Roland asked as his eyes swept the room. He frowned, Sofia has always been a neat girl, why did she make this mess?

"What happened?!" Baileywhick gasped.

"I dont know, but Daddy! Look Sofias gown is hanging up, and she left behind her tiara!" Amber explained.

Roland sighed, "Baileywhick, go get Miranda."

"Your Majesty, the Queen had requested not to be disturbed for the rest of the day." The steward cut in.

Roland sighed impatiently. "Did either of you do anything to upset your mother or Sofia?" Roland demanded.

"I havent seen Sofia all day. I woke up and she was gone!" James said at once.

"I complained to Mother when James exploded Cedric's color changing potion all over my hair earlier. She became almost...weepy." Amber's eyebrows knitted together.

Roland sighed again. "There is nothing we can do, but wait for Sofia to return. Why dont the two of you clean her room?"

"Sure Dad!" James answerd as he bent down to pile the papers into a pile.

"If this gets Sofia to tell us, yes Ill do it." Amber replied reluctantly.

"Minimus, can you drop me off at my room?" Sofia asked when they neared the castle.

"Sure thing!" The horse responded.

He brought Sofia to her bedroom window. She was about to go in, when she saw Amber and James cleaning up after her!

With a pull, Sofia opened her window. The twins turned and gasped at Sofia as she jumped from the back of Minimus landing safely inside her window.

"Sofia! What are you wearing?!" Amber asked disgusted. Her nose crinkled in disgust.

"You didnt have to clean up my mess." Sofia blushed.

"What is going on Sofia?" Amber demanded.
