"Fück" I slammed my hand down on my steering wheel, there is really bad traffic. It's going to take forever.
My phone started to ring, I picked it up and saw it was my band member Cam. "What?" He answered right away, "Whoa, who pissed you off?" I ran my hand through my hair, "Sorry, I'm stuck in traffic, I might be a bit later than I already am" I heard him sigh on the other end of the phone, "Try your best to hurry, people are getting mad" we said our goodbyes and I groaned, our fans are going to hate me.
After honking my cars horn a few times, and yelling profanities out the window. I finally got to the venue. I climbed out of my car and slammed it shut, I then ran over to the back door and attempted to open it, but obviously it was locked. Considering people always try and sneak in that way.
I guess I have no other choice.
I run into the coffee shop and see a crowd of people waiting for my band to take the stage. I push my way through whilst muttering apologies, I can see my bandmates searching for me from behind the little stage. I need to hurry.
I shoved some people and I ran to the stage, I jumped onto the stage and motioned for my band to come out with me. I grabbed the mic and yelled into it, "Hey you sexy motherfückers!" The crowd turned its attention to me and started cheering.
I glanced towards the doors of the coffee shop, 2 boys sauntered in. I immediately recognized one of them as the guy that apologized for his friends. We locked eyes and he smiled a shy smile, he and his friend then moved towards the crowd.
I smiled, he was cute.
I looked down on the floor to see the set list, "Okay this song's called Wasting Away, sing along if you know it!" We started the song and everyone started jumping around and yelling along to it. This is what I love, seeing people have a positive reaction to our music.
We played a few more songs and we took a few minutes to talk to the crowd, "So as you guys might've heard, we're doing a headlining tour here in a few weeks." The crowd cheered, I laughed a little. "But the thing is, we don't have an opening act. So if you or anyone you know would want to audition, write you're name or their name and information on the sheet on our merch table." I heard many people talking excitedly in the crowd,
"We have 2 more songs for you lovely people. This first one is a new one that no one else has heard before, so you better record this, this songs called What Are You So Scared Of? And that's also the name of the new album coming out!" I smirked, our manager is going to kill me.
The song started and I sung the first lyrics,
"Well it's a sad truth, living with these hungry hands.
It's a shame, we don't know how much we have.
We're scared of what we do not know.
No matter where we wanna go."
We finished our set and we met a few fans then waited until they left to pack up our things. I grabbed the sign up sheet off of the merch table, no one signed up. I dropped the sheet and sighed. We are so screwed. The coffee shop doors opened and a group of 4 guys walked in, "The gig's over, sorry if you missed it" the guys smiled, I noticed the guy from before in their group and I smiled. A guy with black and blue hair spoke up, "We were actually wondering if you could check out our band?" I was shocked.
"Uhh yeah of course, let just grab the sheet" I walked over to where I dropped the sheet and picked it up, I handed it to them, "Yeah just fill in all the stuff there and call the number on the bottom of the page and we'll set up an audition." The boys smiled and said they're thanks. All of them left except for the guy with the light blonde hair.
"I'm starting to think you're following me" he blushed and smiled, "No it's just a coincidence, plus I really like you're band." I smirked, "I would say the same, but I haven't heard you guys before" he nodded and smiled again, "Would you by chance want to hang out tonight?" I looked behind me to see that most of the stuff was packed up, I held up my pointer finger as to say 'give me one second' and I ran over to my bandmate Jake, "Hey is it cool if I go hang out with... I actually don't know his name but that guy" I gestured over the boy and Jake studied him, "Yeah he seems harmless" I grinned and thanked him.
I walked back up to the boy, "So what's your name?" He laughed and replied with, "Luke, yours?" I looked him over, "I'm Lydia" after introducing ourselves, and him giving me a filled out copy of the sheet. We drove off to Luke's 'surprise spot'.
"You better not be taking me to some secluded spot to kill me, or I will be pissed." Luke chuckled, "I'm not going to kill you, I'd lose my chance of getting to know you that way" I laughed, "You could always play 20 questions whilst killing me" He shook his head, "Touché"
Luke put the car in park, we took my car because his bandmates had to drive home in theirs. "I don't see anything here Luke" he rolled his eyes, "We have to walk a bit to get there" I nodded and we got out of the car. Luke and I walked side by side, I glanced at him, "So how old are you?" He looked at me and smiled, "I'm seventeen" (A/N in this story Luke is one year older than he really is, and this story is currently in late 2011) I kicked some rocks that were on the road, "Same" we fell into a comfortable silence, we walked a for a few more minutes and Luke finally spoke up, "This is it" I looked up and saw one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
Picture of the Luke's surprise spot to the side.
