That night, the house was silent. No one dared say a word. Link didn't argue when Emery took the couch, leaving him the bed. He knew it wouldn't do him any good anyways. Neither of them slept hardly at all, and Zelda was racking her brain with ways to fix this. It was so stupid how they couldn't tell their love for each other, but then she had to remember not everyone is as full of wisdom as she. Still, she felt like it was pretty obvious.
The next day, they headed to Gerudo Town. It was a long, quiet, and awkward travel. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary for Link to not say anything, but Zelda knew it wasn't only because he wanted to silently bare his burdens like a good hero. He felt so terrible about himself that he found no means to speak. He felt there was no point in talking because he didn't have a place after the terrible things he'd said. If he opened his mouth again, it wouldn't be any good because so far- he's only caused a great devastation upon the girl he loves.
When they arrived, Link stayed beyond the walls of Gerudo Town, and Emery traveled inside with Zelda. People were waving and freaking out at the sights of Princess Zelda. It was nearly impossible how she was alive, but she was. Still with the looks of an eighteen year old. Emery wondered why she couldn't be that beautiful. "Princess Zelda, how great it is that we finally meet."
Emery watched as Zelda knelt down before her throne. "It is with great sorrows that I come before you. I wish it was with your ancestor, Urbosa, but I can assure you she's at peace now. She was very courageous, going at great lengths to protect the kingdom of Hyrule and the world. I feel honored to have been within her very presence."
"Princess, you mustn't do this. Please, stand up. We know it was beyond your control. You did everything you could, and even defeated Calamity Ganon. You can't apologize for what the evil did." Riju declared as Zelda stood. She gave her a small smile.
"Thank you, Chief Riju." She nodded.
"I must ask, what is it you plan to do now?" The Chief asked.
"I came here with the intentions to give you closure, and to ask if you would join us as a Champion and pilot the Divine Beast Vah Naboris?" Zelda asked, a twinkle in her eye that you just couldn't say no to.
"How could I, the Chief of Gerudo Town, say no? It is something I must to do, for my duty to protect the people and to prove my responsibility with the task of being the Chief." She leaned her head against her hand as she kicked her feet back and forth slowly.
"I wouldn't make you do anything you don't want. Piloting the Divine Beast is a demanding task, as you know. Urbosa lost her life to it, along with the other Champions. Are you sure you want to agree to the job?" Zelda inquired. Chief Riju nodded.
"Of course, it is what I must do. Protecting the people of world is my only duty and that is the only way I can possibly fulfill it." She hopped down from her throne, taking Princess Zelda's hand. "We thank you for everything you've done, princess."
"And we thank you. Urbosa would be more than proud to know that you're following in her footsteps, despite everything that could happen to you." Zelda smiled. You could tell those words meant a lot to Riju. Zelda always knew what to say.
Emery followed Zelda as she stepped out of the throne room. She was walking slowly, and then she stopped altogether. She turned towards Emery. "Do you think we could stay here longer, just you and I?"
How could Emery say no to such a hopeful and pleading face? Even if she wanted to say no more than anything... "Uh, sure, princess."
"Please, call me Zelda. I hate when people call me princess." She replied, joining Emery at her side. They walked slowly together.
