Chapter 2: Rest

CINDER'S POV

Poor guy, abused and broken, it made me almost gag when I thought about what those people did to him, not that I'd admit that out loud.
I watched him sleep for a few minutes in a swivel chair(Yes, I was tempted to spin). He was so...........damaged, I guess. I'll admit that I had been watching over him for a few months before we retrieved him. I thought he'd stand up, but no, he stayed on the receiving end of merciless beatings, I didn't know why, and I did want to, but I wasn't going to ask him then, he was unconscious.

I would normally go out and issue orders to the other people if it were anyone else, like Emerald or Mercury, but Sable just interested me too much for me to leave his side, after he wakes up, I might get Mercury or Roman to teach him how to shave, then maybe Emerald or Neo to cut his hair.
I sat by his side for a while, studying his face and body, wondering what he would look like without all that facial hair.
I was studying him until Roman and Mercury Both walked in.

"How's he doing?" Mercury asked, I didn't respond immediately, but I did eventually.

"He will be alright, he just needs the time to rest, he's been through over two decades of this, so it's understandable that he's been damaged." I said calmly, admittedly, I felt attracted to the wolf Faunus, but I couldn't let that show to others.

"Is there anything you want us to do when he wakes up?" Roman asked cautiously.

"Yes, I want you two, or at least one of you to help him shave, he needs it." I ordered them, they both seemed surprised, but understanding.

"Yes Cinder, is there anything else you would like?" Mercury asked me, I already knew one thing I was going to order them to do, however I was contemplating something else.

"Get Emerald And Neopolitan In here after you leave.....also, tell them to get some water." I ordered, they seemed confused at the second order, so I elaborated.

"For when he wakes up. Now go." I ordered, they both nodded and left, leaving me with the unconscious wolf Faunus for a few minutes until Emerald and Neo walked in.

"Hello Cinder, you wanted to speak with us?" Emerald asked as Neo nodded in agreement, I gave them a small glance and saw that Neo was holding a glass of water like I asked. I looked back to Sable and nodded.

"Yes, I did. I want you two to cut Sables hair for him when he wakes up, make him look more presentable." I ordered, they both nodded and Neo approached me, then held the glass out to me. I took it and placed it on the table behind me.

"You two may leave now, I'll have someone let you know when Sable wakes up." I said, they both nodded and left.
I continued watching him and studying him while he was sleeping, imagining the different haircuts Emerald and Neo could give him, I seemed to like the thought of him with shoulder length hair for whatever reason.
He woke up not too long after they left, holding his head.

"Oum...why does my head hurt?" He said, I reached for the glass of water and gave it to him.

"Thank you Cinder..." He said, I nodded at him as he slowly drank the water.

"I noticed that you can move properly now, I can only assume that there's no pain." I said to him, he looked at me and smiled a bit as he moved his arm, which, I'll admit, was fairly well built like the rest of him.

"There's a bit of pain, but I can easily push past it." He said, I can barely make it out because of the beard, but I think he was smiling at me.

"We had some clothes made for you, given that yours were....lets say beyond repair." I said while handing him a pile of clothes that was also on the table behind me.

"Thank you again." He said as he took the clothes, putting some of them on in front of me.

"Did someone take my measurements while I was out? Because these fit really well." He said, I smiled a bit.

"No, you're just the same size as Roman, so we gave you some of his clothes, that's all." I said, he looked at me and smiled a bit.

"Uh...thank you Cinder...f-for Everything..." He said, I was kind of confused, I'd only ever been thanked a handful of times by Emerald and Mercury, but that was it.

"What for?" I asked calmly, he then looked down in front of him.

"For saving my sisters, they mean a lot to me..." He said, ignoring the fact we saved him as well. I stood up and looked at him confusedly.

"What about you? We saved you as well, you know." I said curiously, he smiled and looked at me.

"I know...but it's them I care about..." He said, it kinda warmed my heart to see how much he cared about his family.

"That's very noble of you Sable..." I praised him, he smiled a bit, then took a breath.

"So....what am I supposed to do now?" He asked, I smirked a bit.

"Stay here." I then walked out of the room to look for Emerald and Neo.
