Chapter 18 - Hit the floor
Clare’s POV
I took a deep breath and looked at myself again in the mirror. I tugged at my shirt nervously and went to sit on my desk chair. I spun around in endless circles as I waited for Alyce and Lydia to come out of the bathroom.
“Seriously Clare, chill!” Alyce said as they both finally made their way out of the bathroom.
“Alyce is right, it will be fine. You said you were ready, I mean you said you had forgiven him” Lydiee chuckled as she pulled me up and we walked out of our dorm room. We were on our way to the One Direction concert and I guess you could say I was freaking out a little bit.
Which I thought was totally fair seeing as the guy I loved just happened to be in that band. And the aforementioned guy unintentionally ripped out my heart and stomped on it, which caused me to scream at said guy, break up with said guy, cry over said guy, not listen to said guy, not talk to said guy for months and then write songs about said guy.
So yeah I think freaking out just a little bit was totally validated.
“I have forgiven him and I am ready to see him. But can you blame me for being a bit nervous?” I said as we walked towards the Brisbane Convention Centre, it was only a 20 minute walk from the University and we were all wearing sensible shoes. As in me in my Connies I got for Christmas, Lydiee also in Connies and Alyce in black Vans.
“I guess not, hey guess what I heard from Ivy this morning!” Lydia exclaimed. I did miss Ivy heaps though we texted all the time.
“Awesome what’s new with her?”
“She said she was coming back to Aus today but didn’t tell me what time her flight landed. We’re going to catch-up tomorrow of you want to come, you to Alyce. She wants to meet the long haired girl with the amazing voice.” She flipped her hair in the last sentence. We all cracked laughing.
“I can’t wait to meet her to, she sounds awesome!” Alyce smiled. We chatted randomly for the rest of the walk but soon we had arrived. Cue the butterflies. Thanks to Lydia and her and her schedules we had gotten there 1 hour early to get good spots in the mosh pit, we were at the front but off to the left side.
I sat down on the floor and waited for the show to start. I took deep breaths as I mentally prepared myself to see Niall up close again. Before I was ready the music of their first song started. They slowly rose up onto the stage on platforms and my eyes involuntarily went to the blond Irish boy directly in font of me. (A/N I don’t know the order of the songs they sing so I’m just making it up as I go along)
As Liam started to sing the first words of One Thing; Niall and I locked eyes. I didn’t look away like I would’ve a week ago and he didn’t either. “I forgive you” the words came out of my mouth but I didn’t regret them. I didn’t think he understood what I was trying to say until his familiar grin broke out across his face.
After that he seemed to have a different kind of energy about him. I laughed and sung along to their songs. Alyce and Lydia were going nuts beside me. It was in the middle of ‘Everything About You’ that I got an idea. I whispered it to the girls and that’s when we started.
By the end of the song we had managed to get the whole mosh pit and maybe the crowd going the ‘Inbetweeners’ dance. When I thought they were going to start a new song Niall stepped forward. “Hi guys, you are amazing tonight!” The crowd went crazy.
“Anyway, there is an amazing girl in the crowd who I love with my entire heart” the crowd awed and I blushed as Niall stared at me. Not in a creepy way either. “But I messed up, majorly. Clare this is me trying to make it up to you.” The first few notes of ‘fall for you’ by Secondhand Serenade drifted through the theatre. He remembered.
