Chapter 23 – Chocolate Savior

Ivy’s POV

Lydia was disgruntled and obviously upset about something when she came into my room at 9 that morning. I didn’t ask though the look she gave me when I opened my mouth made a clear point to not even go there. But I knew it had to do with the others seeing as she was here alone. So she sat down on the chair next to my bed and then pulled out a block of chocolate. “Thought you might like this better then hospital food” she smiled, breaking off a row.

“I love you Lydiee! You are my savior, thank you!” I cried devouring the only decent food I’d come into contact with in the past 18 hours.

“Speaking of saviors, have you found a donor yet?” she asked propping up her feet on the edge of my bed and braking off more chocolately goodness. “You know I would but I’m not match to you”

“How do you know you’re not a match?” I blinked, how did she get tested that fast.

“You know Uncle John? Yeah well his kidney’s screwed up too; I got mine checked to see whether they matched his. Evidently they didn’t. So yesterday I asked the doctor if you were the same as me and he said no, therefore, no kidney from me!” Lydia talked really fast but I caught it all.

“Oh okay, I wouldn’t of taken one from you anyway. And no, no one has a spare kidney to share yet but then again it has only been one day. Where are the others, I thought they’d be with you?” I pressed lightly.

Lydia frowned at me and then rolled her eyes. “Coming, I suppose they should be here soon. And no I’m not going to tell you if something happened this morning. Speaking of which, do you want to see Louis or can I slam they door in his face?”

I thought about her question. I guess I did, might as well get his pathetic apology out of the way. “I guess so. I know he didn’t mean what he said but it still hurt. You don’t tell someone who loves dancing that they suck. It’s like kicking puppies, you just don’t do it!” I huffed.

“Amen to that!” Just then the squeaking of 7 sets of shoes approached our door. We both turned our heads to see all the boys plus Clare and Alyce pop their head inside my door. I smiled at all of them but dropped it slightly when I got to Louis. This was met with a sheepish/guilty/apologetic face.

“Come on in! And yes Louis you can come in to” I said as they shuffled inside and scattered around my bed.

“How are you feeling?” Harry asked.

“Fine actually, I want to be discharged but I have to stay in for 3 more days to be ‘monitored’” I put quotations around the monitored with my hands which caused everyone to chuckle. I saw Louis shifting uncomfortably in the corner. “Bloody hell Louis just spit it out already” I muttered.

“I’m sorry!” He exploded “I honestly didn’t mean a word I said yesterday. You are the most amazing dancer I have ever seen but I just don’t want you to hurt yourself! I’m so, so sorry Ivy!”

“It’s okay I get it” I giggled and pulled him into a warm hug. “But don’t ever say it again or I will not hesitate to punch you in the face”

“Got it” he grinned and then flopped down next to me on the bed. Not that I particularly minded *insert winky face.* We chatted away about the tour an stuff for about an hour but all the while I kept noticing things. Good things like how Niall had his arms around Clare’s waist and how Harry and Alyce seemed very absorbed in their own little world.

But then I noticed strange things, like how Lydia didn’t look at Zayn or Clare and if she did look at Clare it was to glare at her. How these glares caused a guilty look to sweep across Clare’s previously smiling face. There was a strange tension in the air and I knew everyone was aware of it but it was blatantly ignored.

“Hey Ivy…” Zayn sung from the end of my bed where he was sitting.

“Hey Zayn…” I replied.

“Got a donor yet?”

“No I don’t but it’s only been a day so that’s to be expected. All of you, except Lydia and Liam, get those looks off your faces. I refuse to accept any kidney’s off of you. No one is to donating to me!” I stated and then crossed my arms.

“Oh come on Ivy your our friend we want to help!” Louis whined.

“Louis this isn’t helping. This is giving me an extremely vital organ that you may need in later life. I said no and that’s that!” I huffed glaring at him and everybody else. They all muttered okay’s and dropped the subject before they annoyed me even more.

“Well if there is no donating then what can we do?” Alyce asked. Alyce was so nice she had known me for less then a day and still cared about as if we had known each other forever.

“Go on with your daily lives! Boys I know you have a concert tonight and you have to perform, these Australian girls are nuts about you! And your three” I pointed to Lydia, Alyce and Clare “are too go back to university or work. No one is to baby sit me or I will eat you”

“But Ivy-“ Harry started.

“No buts’, ands’ or if’s okay?” I raised one eyebrow. They all nodded.

“Just so you know Ivy I promise I’ll be here for you whenever you need it okay? Your more important then school” Clare smiled. Lydia let out a sarcastic laugh at her comment. “What?” Clare glared in return.

“It’s just so funny what you said! God Clare you crack me up! You’ll be there for her…” Lydia trailed off in a fit of fake laughter. I was so confused.

“Shut-up Lydiee, I said I was sorry” Clare grumbled looking down guilty.

Lydia straightened up immediately and glared at her best friend. “Bit late for that now Clare. I don’t blame you for what I did but just know that you could have prevented it. Just like every other time that you had”

“Then why do you keep getting upset about it!” Clare exclaimed frustrated about a topic unknown to everyone else in the room. But apparently not what Lydia wanted to hear. She grabbed her shoulder bag the remains of the block of chocolate and stormed towards the doorway. Only when she was about to disappear from view did she look back.

“I just don’t you making promises you can’t keep Clare” her voice was filled with disappointment as she turned and left. Everyone looked at Clare who was obviously shaken by the words but not about to break down in tears or anything. Zayn asked what it was about but Clare refused to tell us.

After another hour Lydia didn’t return and the boys had to go to a sound check. Alyce and Clare were going to join them after I insisted that I would be fine. I waved them goodbye and then collapsed on my bed and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

Later that day, I woke up and found a note on my forehead from Lydiee saying that she left. I decided to get up and go for a walk. Once outside I found a secluded bench and sat down. I wasn’t sure how long I stayed there. I just did.

?’s POV

I went to go sit down at my place, my bench. But when I went down, there was a girl with fiery red hair already occupying it. Normally I would’ve gone and sat next to her. But there was something different about her. So instead of joining her I turned around and made my way back inside. If she was there tomorrow I would sit next to her. There was something different about her.
