Chapter 8 – First Date
Clare’s POV
On first dates or any date for that matter, most girls look for romance, cliché dates that have been done a million times over, with the rose petals and the food and candlelight. It’s sweet, but way over done.
Me, I like dates that look like actual thought has been put into them. That the guy has taken in something I’ve said and then planned the date around it. It makes them look like they actually hear what you say and don’t just nod and smile. This is what Niall did.
“Niall this is brilliant!” I put down my clutch and started to remove my jacket. But his hands got their faster. I looked around the room. It was lit really well and most importantly it was warm. Not indoor in winter warm, Australian summer warm. I remember saying how much I hated the cold here. I pulled off my boots and walked around.
It was pretty big, couches on one side of the room with a massive TV in front of them and on the opposite side there was a table with, wait was that? It was! I raced over to see vegemite on toast, how I had missed vegemite. I bit into one of the slices; it was like being back home. It had made sure it felt like home. I spun around to see Niall grinning like a fool.
I put down the toast and threw myself into his arms. “I love it. It’s amazing Niall” I stared into his eyes losing myself in there depths. I leant in slowly and closed my eyes just before our lips touched. It was soft and sweet but it set off fireworks in my stomach, Goosebumps on my arms and made my lips feel electric. I felt him smile; I smiled too and pressed harder against him.
I ran my fingers through his hair, the kissed turned hungry and heated. We moved in perfect sync. I pulled away and blushed and then blushed even more at the fact that after this time he could still make me blush.
“Let’s go eat” he tugged my hand and pulled my back over to the table. He pulled out my chair for me and then disappeared through some door. He came back carrying two plates with steak and mash potatoes on them.
“Yum” I smiled and started to eat. I was really good. “Did you cook this?”
“Yep, do you like it?”
“Best steak I’ve had since coming here” we ate in silence. After we were done he brought something I wouldn’t see for ages. “Pavlova!” I yelled as he set it down in front of me. He really did listen to me. A couple of days ago he was asking me what I was missing the most about Australia, I said Pavlova and the summer heat. I think I was in love with this boy. Wait did I just think that? Did I love him? Was I ready?
“You okay Clare?” he pulled me out of my mental freaking out.
“Yeah fine, did you make this too?” I smiled.
“Ummm no, I got a chef to make this” Niall blushed just the slightest bit.
“Not surprised, it’s kind of hard to make” I laughed and bit into it. I was like summer on a plate. “I missed this so much” I ate it slowly, savouring everything. When I was done I walked around and slid my arms over Niall and kissed his neck. “Thank-you it was perfect” I kissed him again and stood up straight.
He slid out of his seat and took the dishes through the mystery door. I lay down on my back on the rug and closed my eyes. I let the 32 degrees heat flow over my skin. I felt Niall lye down next to me; he pulled me to his side. I opened my eyes and turned my head to see him looking at me. I laughed. “What?” he looked so confused I laughed more.
“You’re sweating” I giggled.
“Well it’s hot, is it always this hot in Australia?” he was almost laughing himself.
