Old Crush..?

Chapter 2

Mitch's POV

Today was the day. The first day of high school, I had to make a good impression. I woke up early and took a shower. I dressed in jeans and a dark blue T-shirt. I grabbed my black backpack, stuffed with school supplies. I walked into the kitchen, "Honey, do you want some breakfast?" Mom asked looking over at me "Nope, I don't wanna be late" I replied as I walked out the door "bye" Mom called out to me as I closed the door. I took a right and begin walking, our house was close to the school, which was good, but bad because I didn't have friends to walk with. Hailey and Melissa started their new school earlier in the summer, so they can study marine biology. I was still staying close to our old middle school. I looked up in awe of the high school, it was pretty big for a school. I walked up the front steps and opened the doors. Inside there were rows upon rows of lockers, and there were students everywhere. I walked over to what I think is my locker, and tried the combination. It opened and I put in some books I didn't need but kept the rest in my backpack. I knew my classes because I came in the summer to get all my things I would need. I had geometry first, so that's where I went, after getting help from a passing teacher. I opened a door that had the numbers '104' on them. I went in and the teacher greeted me "Hello, you must be Mitch?" She said, and I nodded "My name is Ms. Gilbert, go and pick a seat" Ms. Gilbert said as I walked towards the back of the classroom. I chose a seat in the very back, where I could read my book without getting noticed. Soon kids started filling in the classroom, and Ms. Gilbert started speaking. The teacher was in the middle of explaining what we were going to be doing today, when a guy burst into the classroom, gasping for air "I'm here!" He shouted. Ms. Gilbert whirled her head around and stared at the boy a little annoyed; she cleared her throat and said "Well you must be Anthony! I was getting a bit worried since you were the only kid absent." A random guy shouted "Hey my name's also Anthony! Eyyyyy twins!" Ms. Gilbert stared at her attendance sheet and saw there WERE two Anthony's. Anthony, (the one who burst through the door) laughed and said "it's ok you can call me Burke." I raised my head at the sound of that name (since I wasn't really paying attention and reading my book). "And why Burke?" said Ms. Gilbert. "It's my last name" he calmly stated. "Oh alright then, Burke" she said looking at her papers. I looked him over, and I realized it was that guy I saw in the window. Even though we are neighbors, I've only seen him around a few times when I went outside. We never talked, only a few awkward times, like when we brought cookies over, let's not think about that.. But can it be a coincidence? Maybe. "Go and sit down" Ms. Gilbert said, picking up where she left off. Burke scanned the isle's when he landed on the seat in front of me. The only seat that wasn't taken. God help me. He walked up and sat down in front of me. Then he had the audacity to turn around and wink at me, he frikin winked! I tried to ignore him and read, but it was hard thinking about how he is exactly like my old 7th grade crush.. I mean the whole Burke is his last name and Anthony being his first name. I mean I don't think it's a coincidence, but I can't be sure it's true either. But I haven't really got a good look at him either... I guess I'll find out later. I slowly looked at him. I was looking at him and trying to remember what my old crush looked like. I jumped upon hearing the bell. Good, I don't think I could handle being so close anymore without my mind exploding trying to see if it's actually him. I quickly dove back into my book after asking Ms. Gilbert if she knows where algebra class was. I walked out and followed her directions, strait then make a right and the door that says 134. I found the door and walked in. I immediately sat in the back, and pulled out my book with 3 minutes to spare. Once all the students were in the classroom I quickly glanced around looking for Burke. Luckily, he wasn't in this class. Finally I get a break, the last hour of my life was terrible, to many thoughts at once. The teacher started droning about something I wouldn't need ever in life. I was actually almost done with my book, which was bad because I would need to get another so I didn't need to pay attention to this class; problem was, I didn't have another book. Dang it, the one day I don't bring several books is the day I need it. I glanced at the clock, YES only 5 minutes till my next class and then, LUNCH. Oh, lunch... Maybe I could skip and go to the library for another book... They probably have something good. As I intensely stared at the clock it seemed as if the minutes got slower and slower each movement the little hand made. As I quickly started packing my things I heard some important info; "Now class, before you go I want you all to complete pages 23-25." Mr. Wright stated. Ugh, seriously, homework on the first day of school? I ripped out the pages I needed to complete stuffed them in my backpack and speed walked out of the classroom. After a bit of searching I finally reached my next class; science. I was kinda excited about this class since I really like science and in middle school my teacher was nice. As I walked into class I heard a voice say "Why hello there welcome to science class I'm Mrs. Kelly!" I glanced up and saw a cheery looking woman. "Hi, I'm Mitch" I said and turned to walk away, "I know silly, I'm the teacher". I sat in the back, per usual, when a moment I wish would never come. "I'm Mrs. Kelly and for today all i want you guys to do is get a sheet of paper and find out someone's name and something about them like their favorite color." Ugh, seriously, do I really need to do this crap? I got out and piece of paper and my pencil then Mrs.Kelly said " The first one to turn theirs in wins candy. Now... GO!" I slowly sat up my seat and started walking to find someone decent to talk to but without warning someone stepped in front of me and I had to stop, before I crashed into them. Oh god, it was Burke. "Hey neighbor! Well since we already know each other then why don't I ask you first right?" I eyed his face and I swear, he looked SO familiar. I rolled my eyes and responded "yeah sure." "So, what's your full name? And what do you like to do?" He asked. "Mitch Celestin, and, I like to read" I responded. It looked as if he was trying to figure something out and he kinda spaced out "So, what's your full name, and what's your favorite movie?" I asked looking at him. He shook his head then looked at me "My full names Anthony Burke, and my favorite movie is Guardians of the galaxy" He said focusing on me, I felt like he was studying me. "Well, we should go turn this in" I said and walked towards the teacher's desk. I handed her the paper and she handed me a peppermint candy. "Thanks" I said and walked back to my seat and pulled out my book, I might as well re-read it. I was so focused, I didn't realize the bell had rung. "Hey, bookworm. Let's go, class is over" I looked up at the owner of the voice "uhm thanks?" I said, more like a question though. I packed up and walked out, headed towards the lunch room. When I got there the room was packed, there were kids everywhere. I remembered I needed a new book so I quickly turned and speed walked towards the library. I opened the door to the library, and walked in, shutting the door behind me. Immediately, I felt the warm, and welcoming environment of the library. I let out a content sigh and walked down one of the book isle's. My fingers grazed over each book, and I took in the smell of books. I gently pulled out a few novels. I went over to a small cozy nook in the corner. I sat on the circle little fluffy carpet. I started to read, because I don't eat much, I didn't need food. I begin to indulge in the wonderful world of fantasy, romance, and adventure. I was intensely into the book I barely heard the stomping outside the halls I annoyingly looked up and realized lunch was over. I quickly shoved to book into my backpack, I didn't have time to check it out. I ran straight out of the library and ran straight towards my next class..

Finally, after a tortues day, it was time to go home. I kept my nose in one of my new books, and slowly made my way home. I heard approaching footsteps, I turned and saw Burke run up to me. "Hey neighbor, we should walk home together, 'cause we live next to each other" he winked and walked a few paces ahead of me. I think my heart stopped beating.. I don't know why, but I carefully walked up next to him. When we reached my house, I walked up to my door and opened it. I turned and waved, then walked inside and closed the door. I walked up stairs and opened my bedroom door. What I did not expect was Burke to be balancing, outside my window, crawling on a piece of wood he placed on his window sill, and mine. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" I yelled and hastily moved towards the window. He smiled sheepishly and looked at me. Then, he fell. In my window. Where I was standing. Which meant, he landed. On. Me..
