Friday night had turned to Saturday morning. Drake sat at the kitchen bench fiddling with his phone, contemplating whether it was too soon to text her.
With other girls he wouldn't have cared. He would've done what he pleased because he didn't care what that those types of women thought of him. But with Rory, it was the opposite. He wanted her to like him and forgive him, so he had to be careful that he didn't scare her off.
He had enjoyed getting to see her true personality last night, even if it was just for a short amount of time. He had really enjoyed her company and vibe, and he really wanted to experience it again, and soon.
His mother walked into their small living space, opening the mail.
"Morning mom."
"Hey sweetie. How are you?"
"Good thanks."
"No, there's something on your mind that's troubling you, I can tell. What is it?"
"Well, um, you know how I was telling you about that girl?" His mother nodded her head while reading the mail, "Well last night at a party I kind of saved her from a situation. It had her pretty shook up, so I drove her home, which is like 3 blocks away. Anyways, we actually talked and when I was leaving we exchanged numbers so we can hopefully hang out again, but I don't know if its too soon to text her. I don't want to scare her off, you know?"
She looked up over her glasses that sat on the bridge of her nose. "Honey your overthinking it. Don't make your decision on how you think she'll react. Decide by your feelings. Simple as that. I mean, for example, if I was her and a man texted me very soon after seeing me then I would feel quite flattered. I'd feel like he had been thinking about me or enjoys spending time with me. But if he waited I'd feel like maybe he's seeing other girls or is too busy for me. So, have you been thinking about her and do you enjoy her company? Or is there something that has been more important to make you push it to a less important priority?"
"I haven't stopped thinking 'bout her."
"Then there's your answer," she said with a sweet smile.
"Thanks mom."
"Glad I could help."
He quickly opened his phone and shot her a text. His mother laughed at his eagerness as she left the room.

Good morning (this is Drake by the way)
Rory rolled over in her bed at the sound of her phone vibrating. She tried to ignore her thumping headache, which was a repercussion of all that drinking she did the night before.
She opened her phone and squinted her eyes in attempt to read the name on the bright phone.
It was an unsaved number but once she read the message she began to automatically smile.
She thought it was quite sweet that he had texted her so soon. She had thought for sure that it'd be a couple of days 'til she heard from him again.

Hi. I wasn't expecting to hear from you so soon
Reading that text made him instantly nervous. Had he scared her off already?
