The week had gone by filled with Drake and Aurora exchanging glances in the halls and classes at school. No other communication, it was all through their eyes. Drake would always give her a soft, subtle smile when he caught her glance, to try to assure her he wasn't like their fellow peers. That she shouldn't be afraid and he was different.

She had somehow sensed those things from not only his eyes and genuine smile but from his recent actions too. She had noticed that whenever the people that he hung out with at school tried to approach her or tease her, Drake would always step in with a distraction or excuse for them to stop. They didn't realise his actual intentions of helping her but she did.

It was now Friday evening and Drake had just walked into some mutual friend's party downtown. He didn't really know who was hosting it but he didn't care. He just needed a night out after his week had been filled with intense training for their upcoming football game. He made his way over to the open bar and poured himself a cup of Hennessey.

As he stood there, with his body leaning against the tall bar bench, a petite curvy figure came walking towards the bar, her head down. She was obviously tipsy from the way she was walking.

She raised her head and both were slightly surprised.

Aurora gave him a small, tipsy smile and Drake returned it with his big grin due to this pleasant surprise, showing his perfect teeth

Aurora gave him a small, tipsy smile and Drake returned it with his big grin due to this pleasant surprise, showing his perfect teeth. Somehow, from just a smile, he had made her blush causing her to look away, embarrassed. His smile only grew knowing he could make her blush that easily.

She occupied herself with refilling her cup before she walked away over to the dancefloor. She had made no other communication towards him. She felt that the smiles and the short eye contact was enough acknowledgement for the night. She felt they had both said what had needed to be said except without actual words being exchanged. She could tell he was happily surprised by her presence which made her feel a little flattered but she kept her guard up, which was so close to being demolished by that contagious and flattering smile of his, but it stood strong, it had to.

He could sense her stand-offish behaviour just through that small amount of communication. He felt that he understood why, but in reality, he had no clue. He had to accept and respect her behaviour as much as it pained him when he watched her walk away.

Drake noticed that her friends weren't accompanying her.

Aurora had come alone. Her friends were busy, so she decided that she would just go by herself.

Drake made a mental note to watch out for her that night as she was clearly already tipsy and her friends weren't there.

He had now found his way to a corner with a cloud of smoke lingering above it next to the dancefloor. He saw his friend Nick there so he joined him. He had a view of the dancefloor which he liked because he could look out for Rory better.
