Dear Luke

I haven’t seen you in two whole weeks. I think I’ve been to that beat up old skate park at least 10 times, and I’d just wait, hoping you’d come stumbling past me and we could talk like we did that first time.

You were sat on your little chair, skateboard in hand. One thing I know about you is that you certainly can’t skate. Do you remember the first time I saw you?

You were trying to look cool, on your beat up old board. Your pants were too tight; I remember calling you out on it before I’d even seen your face.

“No wonder you can’t skate, what with pants like that…” I half yelled, taking a drag of my cigarette. You didn’t respond at first, just laughed, but then you turned around. And I swear, when you turned around Luke, everything changed.

I don’t mean it literally changed just like that… I just mean, what if you hadn’t turned around? What If you’d kept skating, ignoring my comment? I wouldn’t have made a friend.

To think that was two weeks ago.

Are you my friend Luke? Are you even there?

Love,

Calamity xx
