Dear Calamity
Today was the day I met you, and it was honestly the best I’ve had in a while, possibly my whole life. It was so peaceful. You were exciting and full of this energy, yet you were so sad and closed off. You were like this big mystery I had some desire to solve.
I thought about telling you my name; telling you who I am, but I couldn’t do it. You asked for my name and I almost said it. I stopped myself right on time, “Luke… Just Luke.” I said, and you smiled anyway. It didn’t take my last name to make you like me. And it made me happy you know?
You told me your name then, Calamity… I’ve already taken to calling you Cali.
And I just want you to know, Cali, that today I was finally at peace, and I am so, so thankful to you for that.
