Jason handed me a mirror from the bathroom.

My face was bruised to the max.

Two black eyes.

A big bandage covering my forehead.

A tear slid down my cheek.

For once in my life, I felt I looked ugly.

Jason wiped the tear gently with his finger.

"You are beautiful. It's just you need some time to heal.

You won't be like this for long." he spoke softly to me. I felt a little better.

I laid in his arms as he stroke my hair.

"Why? Why would your dad do this to me? I have been nothing but grateful.

And you, Who is going to take care of you?"

The words came from my mouth.

I guess I caught him off guard because I felt his heart start beating fast.

"I don't know. I have no one except you. You are all I ever wanted.

We will just take things one day at a time."

I nodded, and with that I went to sleep.

I dreamed of walking on a white sand beach. It was sunset.

So beautiful.

The clear blue water.

Waves coming upon the shore.

Hitting my feet.

It was so peaceful.

I looked toward the sky.

Jason was there too.

He was watching me.

Taking pictures from a distance.

We were having a picnic.

The only ones at the beach.

The wind felt good.

Then there was a sharp pain in my back.

I screamed.

When I woke up, the nurse was giving me a shot in my lower back.

It hurt so much.

She said,"Its for you to heal faster. The doctor said you can go home tomorrow,

if you answer all the questions correct. Just relax and get as much rest as you can."

With that, she left my room.

It was 10 pm.

I was ready to go home.

I wanted my bed.

My stuff.

Jason.

I was worried about him.

He needed a family.

I knew if I asked my parents, they would say no, because they barely knew him,

and because he's my boyfriend.

Searching my room for him, he wasn't there.

Where was he? He said he wouldn't leave me.

Don't panic, he probably went downstairs for some fresh air.

A few minutes after I was alone, my parents came into my room.

"She's awake!" I heard my mom yell.
