Chapter Thirteen

I hated wearing suits. They were stiff and unmoving and their collars always itched. I examined my reflection and straightened my clip on tie. My father had never gotten around to teaching me how to tie a real one.

I fixed my hair and put on my Mets cap. I knew it wasn't appropriate, but I couldn't leave the house without it. I got into my truck, then paused to take in a deep breath to calm myself. I turned the key in the ignition and began my familiar drive to his house.

I came to a halt on the curb in front of my destination and slowly ambled up the front walk with my hands in my pockets and my head down. My shoes made a slight clicking noise as I walked and I made a mental note to change into my converse when I got back to the car. When I finally reached the door, I took another deep breath before ringing the doorbell.

It opened moments later and I was face to face with his mom. Her eyes were filled with tears.

"Aww you look so handsome Shadow," she said and wiped at her eyes.

"Thanks Mrs. Ruiz," I replied. Just as I did I noticed the most handsome man alive standing behind her. I grinned widely.

He smiled sheepishly back and blushed. "You're fucking adorable, Aaron," I said as I walked forward and grabbed his hands. I planted a kiss on his lips.

His mom took some quick pictures before we left, but as soon as we were in the car, I attacked G with kisses. I couldn't keep my hands off of him after having been away from him for so long. After they found him almost dead in the grove, they had put him into intensive care and then a mental hospital house type thing where they helped him try to get better. He wasn't around much even when he came back because he was behind in school.

But now he was my prom date and I wanted to live in this present forever.
