Lily's P.O.V
I bent down to put Caily in her car seat and pain rippled through my body. I had a C-section and I was in nothing but absolute pain.
"You okay?" Caelum asked. I shook my head and handed him the baby. He kissed my forehead and stroked Caily's growing hair gently. She almost had a full head of hair and she was only a few days old.
Cae sat her in the seat and then walked over to me. He pulled the car seat in front of him so he could see the sleeping baby at all times.
"We can go pick up the pain medicine later okay?"
I nodded and grabbed the car seat which Cae took away from me quickly. I smiled up at him and followed him to the car.
For all the trouble we went through, we had a surprisingly healthy baby. She came out a eight pounds and six ounces. She had a minor respiratory problem they believed could lead to asthma later on, but nothing was sure.
Caelum placed her in the backseat and I climbed in next to her. She looked so pretty as she slept. I had her in a pink jumper with the words 'Mommy's Princess' across the front. She had on some pink socks with silk around the top and pink gloves. With all that pink, she was sure to be a tomboy when she grew up.
Caelum started the car and the baby shifted before settling back into sleep. I forgot how much baby's slept. She was learning how to open her eyes and they were the most beautiful color of grey.
"I can't wait to get her home. She's so precious."
"She has your nose and eyes."
"Then let's hope she gets your sassy attitude."
"Hopefully, just not in school."
"Not in school? Yes in school. Teachers try to push kids around to see if they can do it or not. She needs that sassy attitude."
I rubbed her cheek with my thumb and she let out a small yawn. Caily Juliet McGriffin. Our little bundle of joy.
I looked at the road for a second and back down and her face was in crying position. It wasn't to long before she was screaming.
"What's wrong baby?" I asked her unblocking the car seat. It was dangerous to drive with a baby out, but I couldn't just let my baby cry.
"I'll pull over." Caelum announced and turned into a nearly empty gas station.
I took Caily out and checked her diaper. She was clean which meant she must be hungry.
"I'm going to feed her." I undid my shirt and placed a blanket around me as I fed her.
Caelum tapped the wheel nervously.
"What's wrong Cae?" I asked jokingly.
"I'm jealous." He chuckled.
"About what?"
"She's getting my meal."
"You're disgusting."
I continued to feed her until I felt her stop and her soft breathing against my chest. I burped her as Caelum pulled into our yard. There were a million cars outside and I wondered what the family had up their sleeves.
I put the now sleeping Caily back in her seat and walked her into the house feeling better pain wise. I opened the door to a loud 'surprise'.
The words 'Welcome Home Baby Caily' were printed on a large banner and the whole family seemed to be there.
I sat Caily's car seat down and took her out. I showed her around for a few minutes before laying her down and closing the door.
I got a few congratulations and gushes about how beautiful Caily was and then everyone left. It was just me, Cae, and the baby.
I took a shower and settled into bed with Caelum. I got comfortable and closed my eyes. I heard screaming and rolled over.
"Your turn." I whispered sleepily.
"What? How is it my turn already?"
"Because I went through seven months of pain and hours of intense labor. Your turn."
"Touché." Caelum said and went to go get the baby.
