I Want To Make You Proud

I want to make you proud.

My brain is swelling
because I'm utterly
distressed that I may
have disappointed you.

My hand is shaking
as my pencil
hovers over this poem
written for you.

My heart is dying
to tell you
what's going on
in my head.

I want to make you proud.

My apologies because I
keep my mouth
shut in your presence
due to anxiety.

My mind doesn't let
me think rationally
and I'm afraid of
being a nuisance.

My heart finds peace
in your abode
but then again my
chest feels uptight.

I want to make you proud.

My arms have goosebumps
at the thought
of making you angry
at my actions.

My eyes are watering
because I feel
as if I have
failed you greatly.

My heart is pounding
as you draw
nearer and I'm ashamed
of my fear.

I hope you'll remember me.
I hope I've made you proud.
