Hera walked around the base, looking for Sabine. She was thinking about what to say to the young woman. That what had happened wasn't Sabine's fault? That she shouldn't blame herself for what Ezra was going through? Hera was aware that Sabine and Ezra had an.... unique relationship. While they insisted that they were just friends, the way they acted around one another seemed otherwise.
She spotted Wedge who was fixing up his X-wing. It had taken a minor crash last mission. Wedge had taken it upon himself to fix the damages, saying that he "knew his ship". She had permitted him, knowing how he felt.
As soon as Wedge saw and heard the twi'lek approaching, he stopped what he was doing and abruptly stood up. "Ma'am." He greeted her formally, while attempting to dust off the dirt and grease that had gotten on his uniform.
"Relax, Wedge." Hera smiled slightly. "And we've talked about this before. This isn't the Empire. When we are not in battle, you can call me Hera."
Wedge nodded awkwardly. " Yes ma'am, I mean captain- I mean Hera. Did you come to ask me something?" He asked her.
"In fact I did." Hera answered the young pilot. "Have you seen Sabine this morning? I want to talk to her about something."
Wedge shook his head apoligetically. "No, sorry. I haven't seen her since last night." He paused before continuing. "But I think I have an idea of where she might be." He told her.
"Where???"Hera inquired. She was eager to go to Sabine. Right away was preferred.
Wedge pointed towards the forest. "Ezra, Sabine, and I set up a shooting range in the woods,"He explained, leaning against the X-wing. "Sometimes, we go off there to blow off some steam. Knowing her, I would bet that Sabine is probably there right now, practicing her shooting. Just go down the path, take a right, walk for at least a half a mile. That's where it is."
Hera sighed gratefully. "Thank you so much. I appreciate it" She thanked the young pilot and began to walk away.
"Wait. Are there any breakthroughs on Ezra's location?" Wedge anxiously wanted to know, worried about his friend.
Hera stopped, and looked back at the young man. "No." she confessed . "But there eventually will be. We shall not leave Ezra in the slimy hands of Thrawn and the Empire." She said, and then changed her tone to a cheerful one. " You should continue to fix up your ship. After all, you'll need it in good condition for a rescue mission!" Wedge's face brightened, after she told him that and immediately began to work on repairs again.

Sabine had been shooting for over an hour. Maybe two. Or three. All she knew was that she was on her final tenth reload. After she had destroyed all the targets from shooting at them so much, she moved on to the trees and various rocks surrounding the area. She couldn't explain it, but to her, pulling the trigger on her blaster was a way of muting out the pain. And besides, she had to have a dead on shot for shooting Thrawn. Sabine smiled as she imagined the chiss suffering.
"Sabine! Sabine, where are you?" Someone was shouting her name. Paranoid, she pointed her guns in the direction the voice was coming from.
"Who- Who's there?" she yelled into the bushes. " I got a gun. Don't come any closer!" She threatened. There was a pause, and tumbling out of the bushes was... Hera?
"Hera!" Sabine exclaimed, surprised. She ran over to help the twi'lek up. "What the kriff are you doing here? How did you even know about this place?" She demanded to know.
Hera sighed. "Wedge told me you would be here. And not surprisingly, he was right." she answered the question and put her hand on Sabine's shoulder. "I came here to talk to you. I'm worried about you, Sabine.
Anger flared up in the Mandolorian. How dare Wedge tell Hera about their private shooting range? It was supposed to be a hideout! And why did Hera have to be so invasive and concerned about everything? Didn't the woman understand that she needed her privacy?
Sabine shrugged Hera's hand off her shoulder. "Don't be troubled about me." She responded sharply. "Ezra's the one you should be worried about. Not me. " She looked away, the wave of guilt coming back.
"No!" Hera insisted. "Sabine look at me. If it's anyone's fault, it's mine. was the one who sent you on the mission. Ezra wanted you to go. He didn't want you to be tortured too. That's the kind of person Ezra is." She squeezed Sabine's hand. " Ezra will survive. You know him. Spector 6 never gives up."
Sabine tried (and failed) to blink away tears. "It's not only that Hera. I've kind of been having.. err what's it called.. uhhh feelings for Ezra. In kind of a romantic way. I started to realize after I went back home to Mandalore. I didn't think he felt the same way. Then- then Wedge was talking about it last night, saying that Ezra loved me," she fell to her knees, crying. " Hera, I'm just so so so scared I won't be able- able to tell Ezra that I-I love him." She sobbed, now realizing what had been bothering her.
Hera comforted her, her own tears starting to fall. The mother vowed that she would save her son, no matter what.
Hey guys it's me. I worked on this chapter all day! I don't think it's the best so what do you guys think?
