Sabine's eyes fluttered open. She was lying down on the cot in the med bay. She sat up immediately, bonking her shoulder against the ledge besides her in the process. As she winced in pain, Sabine looked around in confusion. What had just happened? She looked out the window, and saw that they were back at the base. Without Ezra. They had left him, abandoned him. Failed him. No, this couldn't be happening...

"No!! " She jumped out of the bed she was in. "This can't be happening. We were so close to saving him! Why? Why?" She screamed to no one but herself. Sabine threw her ammunition belt against the wall angrily, and kicked the bedside table so hard it broke. She fell to her knees, sobbing, cursing, and screaming.

Hera burst in. She had heard all the commotion coming from the medbay and had correctly assumed that Sabine was awake. "I'm so sorry Sabine-" she started, crouching down to get eye to eye with the heartbroken girl.

"Why didn't we save him, Hera? We could've! We were on the same kriffing ship he was on. What happened?" Sabine screamed, interrupting the older woman.

Hera sighed and looked away. "Ezra contacted Kanan through that bond they have. He warned Kanan that Vader, the Sith Lord was there. He ordered Kanan to escape." She explained.

"And Kanan just listened to him? Didn't even try to continue the mission?" Sabine growled, angrier than ever. "The coward!"

"No, no, it's not that." Hera tried to contradict what the girl was saying.

"What don't I understand?" The Mandalorian snarled, trying, (and failing) to stop crying. "That we failed? That this is all entirely Kanan's fault?" She scooched away from Hera. "That this was my fault?"

"This wasn't anyone's fault!" Hera protested. "The Sith Lord would've killed us all. Ezra was the one who saved us, and the rebellion. As hard as it is," Hera paused, dreading what she had to say next. "We have to let Ezra go and accept the fact that he's gone." She finished, starting to cry herself.

Sabine stared at her in disgust. "Never." She muttered coldly, got up, and started to stomp out of the room.

Kanan who had just entered the room, saw Sabine leaving. He held her by the shoulder to stop her. "I'm so sorry. I wish I could've-"

Sabine shrugged Kanan's hand off her shoulder. "I hate you." She deathglared at the Jedi. "I hate you with all my heart. You could've done something-anything!"

Kanan sighed guiltily. "Sabine,
Ezra told me to tell you- that he loved you with all his heart."  He told her.

Sabine shoved Kanan aside, making him crash into the wall. "You failed Ezra! You failed me! I wish you died along with your Master in order 66!"

With that, she marched off, leaving the two adults in silence.

"Kanan-" Hera was about to comfort her love.

"No, she's right." Kanan shook his head, and left the medbay, filled with guilt and sadness, not only for Ezra, but for his fallen master too.

Hera shook her head and went to her quarters to think and cry. What had happened to her family? There was one who was about to die, one who was utterly heartbroken and furious, and one who was filled with remorse and guilt.
