Sabine marched angrily out of the Ghost, and out onto the base. Suddenly she stopped, taking in her surroundings, horrified at what she saw.
Burning X-wings and transports slowly turning to ashes in front of her. Injured pilots and crew members  were being pulled out of their ships. All around her, medics were rushing in all directions, many of them tugging cots with critically hurt people on them.

As everything unraveled before her, Sabine was frozen in place. Reality hit her hard. Even if they had saved Ezra, what was the cost? The loss of the whole entire rebellion, innocent lives, and families not unlike her own? This was exactly what Ezra was talking about when he had told them to stay, and not attempt to rescue him. Of course they wouldn't listen, risking everything they had. She had been selfish to demand that everyone risk their lives to save the one person who mattered the most to her.

Sabine thought about what she said to Kanan, about how he should've died with his Master in Order 66. She had been so full of fury at the Jedi Master when he had made them turn back, instead of continuing the rescue mission. Now she understood. It wasn't out of selfishness and the love for his  own life that Kanan  stopped. Quite the opposite really. And in thanks, she had told him that he was a coward, and brought up one of the most painful experiences in his life, telling him that he should've died years ago.

She was filled with regret and remorse about what she did to everyone she loved. But time for apologies came later. Right now, she was going to save Ezra. Even if it was as a solo mission. But she needed help. She needed someone she could trust. Someone who understood what she was going through. Someone who valued Ezra's life almost as much as she did.

Sabine turned her heel and ran towards the far end corner of the base.

She needed to talk to Wedge.
