~ Chapter 1 ~

--Sam's POV--

I woke up in my room after a good nights sleep, I had some weird dreams about different places and a boy that's older than me, but I can't remember any features. I sigh and hop out of my bed, hoping for some peace and quiet for a little while.

"SAM!" I heard my sister Diana call from downstairs, "Time for breakfast!"

I groaned and got dressed in my usual dark blue skinny jeans and white tank top, topping it off with my royal blue jacket, unzipped. After getting ready, I ran down the stairs to see what Diana wanted. She was still wearing her purple pajamas, and her long brown hair was up in a ponytail.

"What took you so long?" My sister asked in annoyance.

"Well I had to get dressed," I answered simply, brushing my dirty blonde side bangs out of my face.

She just rolled her eyes, "Your mushroom stew is probably cold by now." I just ignored what she said and sat down at the table, slurping my stew up immediately.

"Tasted fine to me!" I exclaimed, sitting back in my chair.

"Oh Notch, you eat like an eight year old boy!" she said.

I just laughed, "Thanks for the compliment!"

"That wasn't a- you know what, never mind" Diana said sitting down on the couch, obviously still annoyed with me.

I climbed the stairs back up to my room, and started messing with dye and a canvas, trying to do some painting, but I stopped to think for a little while. Diana isn't actually my real sister, she said that she found me out cold in the middle of our yard. The odd thing is, I can't remember anything from before I woke up at her house and she told me. I sighed, wondering what my life was like before all of this.

I jumped as I heard a knock on the door downstairs, I sped to the front door and answered it, it was my best friend Kylie!

"Hey Kylie!" I exclaimed happily.

She smiled, "Hey, I was wondering if you want to come out to the forest just outside the village with me." she said.

I nodded, "Sure, just let me ask Diana," I told her before turning around and walking over to Diana, who was still sitting on our gray couch reading a book.

"Hey Kylie invited me to walk around in the forest with her, can I go?" I hopefully asked Diana.

"Sure." she replied, "Just be back by seven."

I thanked her and ran out the door with Kylie. We began walking out of our small village and arrived at the forest a little while later. Since our village is in a plains biome, we like to check out the forest once in a while.

When we arrived I spoke up, "So, what do you want to do?" I asked Kylie while looking over to her. She was wearing her usual white leggings and long scarlet shirt with light gray stripes on it, and her curly blonde hair was flowing behind her from the breeze.

"I don't know, I was thinking we could just explore around here," she shrugged.

I nodded in agreement, "Fine by me," I said, "Where to first?"

We decided to just look around the area, and started walking a bit farther into the woods. I ran over to a tree with some lower limbs and started climbing up it.

"Hey Kylie! You should come up here with me!" I said laughing, when I noticed she was staring at a tree nearby. I hopped down and walked over to her, I saw that she was looking at a long scratch along the tree. It almost looked like something had tried to hold onto the tree, but was dragged away. I looked back over at Kylie and saw a small tear roll down her face, but she quickly wiped it off.

"What's wrong?" I asked her, while giving her a side hug.

Kylie shook her head, "I'll explain later, but we have to get out of this forest NOW," she grabbed my arm and started pulling me away, but suddenly stopped.

"Which way did we come in from?" Kylie asked with a hint of panic in her voice.

"Um..." I looked around, "I don't know, lets try that way." I pointed towards where the tree I had climbed was, and we started running.

Not too soon after, Kylie tripped over the root of a tree and fell onto the ground. I stopped immediately to help her up. She tried to get back up, but fell immediately after. I put my hand out to help her up, but she refused.

"Just leave me behind! They were going to find me again anyways, I don't want you getting pulled into this!" Kylie pleaded.

"No! I am not and never will, and what are you talking about? Who is after you?" I asked, wanting to know how I could help my best friend.She sighed,

"There is a place deep in these woods that kidnap people and do experiments on people. My little brother died from it! I managed to escape, but my parents blamed me for what happened. They disowned me and kicked me out, but I found my way to your village and was taken in by some nice people. I don't want them to get to you, so get out of here!" Kylie started sobbing, and pleading me to leave while I still had the chance.

"No! I won't let this happen to you alone, and I couldn't bear not knowing what could possibly happen to you." I layed on the ground next to her and hugged her.

"Now lets get out of here together!" I stood up and helped her off of the ground. Kylie smiled at me, but terror soon filled her eyes.

"SAM GET OUT OF THE WAY!" she screamed before I felt something hit my head, and I was soon surrounded by darkness.

A/N You guys like it so far? I will be writing the next chapter in a little while. If you have read other fanfics like this one, you probably know where this is going. Maybe. I might add a little twist... If you want to see some of the team crafted members and stuff (Which I know team crafted isn't much of anything anymore, but I will write the story as if they were still all together) don't worry, they'll come into the story soon.
