'I have been thinking about it all night but I have a plan,'He said. I looked at my hooves they were tatered and worn out. I turned up my nose at them and looked back up at Mickey. 'So after feeding time a girl comes to check all the horse's before going to bed. Sometimes she forgets to lock the gate. So what you will do is stay close and jump into the paddock to kick the gate open. I'll find a way to get out of this stall.' Mickey looked at me. He tilted his head and looked happy with his idea. I nodded my head not knowing what to say. His idea was okay, I could have thought of something better but I couldn't be bothered so I followed what Mickey said carefully not missing a step out.
Feeding time came around and I began to get hungry. I looked over a Mickey and he siganaled for me to go over to him. I cantered lightly to his paddock where he was stabled. 'Okay stay close its getting dark.' He snorted. I cantered off into the woods and lay down my stomach rumbling.
I dozed off before the girl came to check on Mickey. I woke up and watched the girl close the gate, it rattled but it didn't lock. Mickey, a few seconds after the girl has disappeared behind the barn, shot out of his stall. I hallowed and flung myslef over the paddock fence. 'Keep it down' Mickey whispered harshly. I had closed my eyes after going over the fence so I blocked out any sound, 'Sorry I didn't realise I made a sound.' I said pinning my ears back I was on the ground my legs in front of me. I got up swiftly, 'Hey that was pretty high..' Mickey said. 'Really?' I said looking at the fence it was about a metre. Mickey might not have been as used to jumping as I was. 'Lets get a move on' Mickey said. A few seconds later the barn lights went to off. 'Good idea to start now.' I mumbled to myself. I went over to the gate, I kicked it lightly and it swung open. Mickey had shut his stall door when I looked back, we trotted through the gate. Mickey shut the gate behind us I didn't notice because of how quiet he was, he was basically on mute.
I cantered away Mickey behind me. I cantered as far as I could from the stables and the small village. 'Mare.. Slow down' He said breathlessly. 'The names Clover' I gritted my teeth. I looked back at him his leg way bleeding. 'Oh, oh no..' I mumbled under my breath. 'Do you need to rest somewhere?' I said looking off into the forest, I saw my little shelter. It was snowed in but still in good shape for two horses. 'My home is just in there' I said. Mickey shuffled towards my shelter, I asked him how he got the cut. 'I kicked the stall door open, there was no other way to do it. But I cut my Leg of the latch when I kicked it closed.' He explained. I treat his wounds with the bandages I had left over from when my mother was hurt. 'Thanks' Mickey said lying down. 'Your welcome' I replied. I set out some hay and carrots. I added suger cubes to Mickeys pile to make him heal better. Mickey ate all the hay and didn't really touch the carrots not even the suger cubes. I lay down next to Mickey, he starts to get drowsy but before I knew it he was asleep.
I badly slept a wink last night, I thought to myself as I rose from the hay I was sleeping on. Mickey was still asleep, I lay more hay next to him. I went out and shoveled through the snow. I found some sparse grass that's I nibbled on for the remaining time Mickey was asleep.
I walked out of the shelter and down to the icy lake. I went to look for the gap in the ice but it must have been so cold it froze back up again. So I made a short crack in the ice, I hit it once more and it made a gap. I dipped my head and drank the water, by that time Mickey had woken up. I looked back at him us mane was scruffy and his eyes still drowsy. I trotted back up to him. 'Do you need anything?' I asked, 'More hay?' He said. 'Okay' I said happily. I trotted to the village, I found the market and snuck a bit of hay. 'Get it!' A voice screamed behind me. I galloped off. Someone say me. What did I do to deserve this? I went in the opposite direction of where Mickey was. I could hear hoof beats as the humans on their horses galloped after me.
I had galloped for nearly half an hour and the humans hadn't stoped yet. We were coming to a clearing in the woods I steered away from it and gallopd as fast as I could into the distance. The rider's has started to go back at this time. I stopped but of course it was to cold and my legs were numb from all that galloping. I was curious to what was in the clearing. So of course I plucked up my courage and catered towards it. When I went in I saw a gorgeous village, it wasn't the same as the one I lived near. It had a glow and energy that made me compelled to go in. I walked in the houses had only lights on it was quite early in the morning. The place wasn't busy, in fact there was barely any people there. I saw a big royal stables at the back. I realised if I didn't get out fast I would become one of them.
