I woke up on a winter's day, however I wasn't surprised when it was snowing. I lived in the mountains near a small village, the village was full of horses and riders. There was also the occasional horse stealers who were out to get all the wild horses who were happy enough living on their own in the mountain area of the village. I lived near some trails but I always stayed clear of the trail just in case riders came up or down them.

I stretched my legs in my shelter that I had lived in since I was born. My father would always bring me back here, I was definitely his favourite I was the eldest of all of his children. He probably liked me because I was a mare with a stallion personality. I really didn't mind who I was as long as I could keep people safe, that included my family and friends.

I trotted down to the icy lake and drank from the gap I had made in the ice. I lived alone which made food a lot easier to find and store. I had one friend, she was a dapple grey Morgan. She liked to be called Frost, she was my only friend. I also had a brother who survived but he has foals to take care of. I never thought about him much he was a Morgan just like me, we were cross breeds. My parents talked about it loads but I never listened, they said we were Morgan and Andalusian. My mother was Andalusian, she was a gorgeous snow white colour. My father was a black Morgan with some white patches on his coat. I inherited the patches, I was black with white patches. According to the humans we were well bred, I didn't really care until my first encounter with the human creatures.

I decided after a long drink I went to go and find Frost, I was so sure she was alive that I ate the last of the food in my shelter and left an apple for the foal I kept thinking actually exists. My guts knew it wasn't alive but I wanted to make sure that I left something for any wild horse.

Once I had finished eating I got up and trotted through the forest to get to the edge of the village. I trot through the trees following the trail that has loads of hoof prints already on it. Once I reach the village I admire it's beauty, there we lights around all of the houses and I can see through the houses a small market forming. There was some people putting up the stalls and people on horse back bringing things into the market place. An owned horse snorts behind me, I direct all my attention to him. He was a big brown Shire getting lead by his owner. He had a bit-less bridle on which made it easier for him to talk to me. 'Stay there if you wanna get caught girl.'He says gritting his teeth at me. I snort and canter off not looking back.

I come across a massive lake with wild horses, riders and humans sliding, skating and having fun on it. I stay away from the riders and humans. It gets later and the people have started to go. Some wild horses have started to come out to drink. After a few minutes I see Frost, she is taking a drink. I canter over to her, she looks up. 'Hi Clover, nice to see you again' She says, Frost whinnies. I do the same back shaking my head making my mane go all fluffy and my fore lock goes over my eyes. I flick it out of the way. 'How's life?' I ask. A small palomino foal steps out, I gasp. 'Shes so cute' I say. The foal neighs, it's eye light up. 'This is Treacle, my first born foal' Treacle leaped towards me, I thought Treacle was the foal I tried to save but she wasn't. 'Well I mean not my first born since one ran away before I could stop him... The poor guy probably doesn't exist any more' Frost eyes started watering, Frost sighs. 'No Frost this is your first born' I said lifting her head up. Treacle's ears pinned back, she stepped back a step she slipped but I had caught her before she fell.

Frost then led us to a small cave which looked lived in. 'We're scarce for food but this place is warm and hidden.' I agreed. Frost gave me food but I was planning to leave early in the morning. I lay down next to Treacle and Frost. Treacle's eyes start to close, Frost does the same thing. I keep my eyes open to protect the two of them. I looked up at the sky the moon was out as well as the stars. I must have dozed off because when I open my eye the sun was coming up.
