Chapter 5

LOLA'S POV:
The Duffer Brothers are crazy. They cast that girl that I spoke to when we were waiting. I got cast as 'Charlotte'?? That's ridiculous, I clearly have higher potential as an actress than her. I'm not even a main character! I'm Max's old friend.
"At least you got a part" I roll my eyes as Clara hisses from the other side of the room. She scowls at me
"That's because I'm better than you, dimwit"
Ughh how can I be stuck with such talentless people? I would've been way better with Finn. We have great chemistry, trust me, we're made for each other. honestly if I was the Duffer Brothers, i would've scrapped millie too, i would be an amazing eleven, like I said, finn and I have great chemistry. but i will take the role as Robin believe me, I will.
the room is silent apart from the scratching of my nail file against my perfectly manicured nails.

FINN'S POV
"CUZ THE PLAYERS GONNA PLAY,PLAY, PLAY,PLAY, PLAY BABY IM JUST GONNA SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE,SHAKE IT OFF, SHAKE IT OFF"
I'm dancing around my trailer like a crazy person. Why? Because today is the first day of filming. And River is with us. She was cast!! warm feelings fill my body, happiness. she's so great and chill, I can't get flustered or embarrassed I have to be cool and calm.
"HEY HEY HEY, IF YOU BEEN GETTING DOWN AND OUT ABOUT THE LIARS..."
the speakers continue to blare and I grab a hairbrush and jump on the table, miming the words, in perfect time. you gotta love Taylor Swift right?

RIVERS POV:
so I woke up this morning with a fluttery feeling in my chest. as my eyes blink open I realise I'm not in my usual room back in England. dazed, i sit up and rub my eyes sleepily and I hear my mom mutter something. i realise that it wasn't a dream, it's real! I'm going to be on Stranger Things!! also my moms in my wardrobe. weird.
"hey mom?" i call, "i can dress myself you know, im 14 now" i remind her sarcastically.
"hm? what was that honey?" she emerges from the closet and throws a floral dress at me. ughhh nooo.
"mom, I'm not wearing this!" i roll my eyes. how can I be cool if I'm wearing a pink flower dress that looks like something Harper's little sister, Kate, would wear?
"River, come on you have to look your best, this is your first day on set!" my mom is trying to be chill but really? yeah she's freaking out. honestly I'm so calm considering I'm going to be working with the cast of STRANGER THINGS.
"'mom? yeah I could just go in my jeans and jumper with my trainers because I'm just going to change out of them again anyway" i give her my best 'duh' look. im not even going to wear that dress, uh huh never.
"river please" she tries to use her best look now- silently pleading me. not this time mom.
"no mom I-"
"HI GUYS ARE YOU EXCITED RIVER? WILL I GET TO MEET THEM TOO? OMG ILL FREAK IF I MEET MILLIE BOBBY BROWN"
our conversation is interrupted by a very loud, cheerful voice and it's only 6:30.
i let out a slight laugh as she burst in my room, wearing her best pink tank top, ripped skinny jeans and her white converse. she looks great and her eyes twinkle with excitement. she's grinning from ear to ear.
"see river! Everyone is making an effort, please River!" My mom continues to plead
"hey what's happening guys?" harper watches us, confused.
"well my mom is trying to force me to wear this horrible dress" i hold up the dress and pull a face behind moms back and harper snorts.
"well, it's not a bad dress?" she smiles slightly.
i look at her confused, are we seeing the same dress? it's white and frilly...with huge yellow flowers on it!!
"yeah no it's gross" she pulls the same face and starts rummaging through my draws. i facepalm, why is everyone so worried about what I'm going to wear? they probably wouldn't care anyway, im going to get changed out of them. i jumped out of bed and joined harper.
"hey harp what are you doing?" i watch her as she throws the clothes out on to the floor
"duhhh I'm finding you a cute outfit, wow ohh my gosh! put this on!" She thrusts an off the shoulder black top with roses embroidered on her shoulder in my hands. i groan and mentally wish they'd let me dress myself.
"here, these are cute River! how could you have not worn these yet?" yep, im not going to have those for long.

i trudge to the bathroom and splash cold water on my face, letting it run down. i take a deep breath, this is it. this is happening. i grab the concealer and rub it under my eyes. i don't put much on usually but for some reason I feel like I should put a little bit of highlighter on, extra glow, right? my mind wanders back to a certain curly haired boy, dark brown chocolate eyes, freckled face and i can't help but smile.
"RIVER I WANNA SEE HURRY UP!!"
Harper's voice makes me jump and I drop the concealer stick in the sink, i scowl at the door. ugh they're so pushy. i sigh and pull my top over my head. it's going to be a long day.

~30 minuets later~

"mom okay! i get it can I leave now? mooom?"
i moan as she bushes my dark locks. "okay honey you can go now"
i dart out of the car and pull my jacket round my shoulders. there's a slight chill in the air.
"RIVER HI!!" a loud voice filled with British-ness grabs my attention and I grin at her from across the road. she runs over and pulls me into a hug, a warmth fills my chest, I've never really had any other friends apart from harper, things are changing and i love it.
"how are you? did you sleep well? have you eaten? can I show you around? oh this is so fun!!"
"mills slow down" i let out a nervous laugh and we link arms and walk towards the trailers. millie does most of the talking but my mind wanders to a specific boy. one that I've met face to face once but seems to have my stomach doing flips whenever someone mentions his name. this isn't a 'fangirl' crush, it's real and I'm falling. hard.

so i feel like maybe im getting the hang of this story writing, not to toot my own horn (as my best friend likes to say, then again she is a great writer, you should all check out her recent work "secret admirer" finnssunflower  ) i hope you all like this chapter, it gets a little more intense as it goes on🙈
